Its pretty difficult to muster any sympathy for the manager of any bigger club if they are whining about money. When you look at what pretty much any bigger Prem club spend (outside of Everton for obvious reasons) compared to some of the mid-level clubs spend, its a pretty vast difference. Newcastle, for example, put together the trio of Demba Ba, Yohan Cabaye, and Cheik Tiote for something like 8m. I would even shake my head at Wenger bitching about spending (although by most reports, he's the cheap one rather than the club).
When most managers are complaining to the media about something like this, its usually to try to leverage the club. But how is that going to work here? Who is really going to read these comments and say, "It really truly is unfair that this club has spent more than any other club in the world in the past two years and have a magnificently deep squad yet they won't continue to invest vast sums of money that they will never come close to earning back. Poor Mancini..."
Beyond the players they have out on loan, they also have players like Wayne Bridge and Carlos Tevez frozen out of the side. I get why with Tevez, but if you really need to make the best possible use of the resources you have available....?
