So clearly based on this thread the asinine opinion NAHSTE and Palooza have of movies extends beyond the idiotic belief that Back to the Future II is better than III.

Two things here ...

1. Regardless of what you think of B2TFII, B2TFIII sucked more titties than DDRGuido at an opium den.

2. Perhaps if you continue finding yourself on the opposite end of conventional wisdom, it is your opinion that is the asinine one.

Yeah, a lot of people like that movie. Coincidentally, a lot of people are dumb as fuck. That movie is absolute shit, and one of the most overrated creative projects in the history of the universe.

I guess the issue is to define conventional Wisdom. I am not sure it really applies when talking about movies. Is it critical opinion, is it opinion of the general movie goer. Or is is just a flat fucking opinion.

How is VSN(D) considered to be a reputable source to determine if a movie is good or not.

NAHSTE pretty much nails it. It's a superficial film which buries any opportunity for a real discussion on drug addiction under using one song, a bunch of Steadycam shots of the characters running around and freaking out, and boring ass scenes with Shooter McGavin talking to an old lady through the television.

Essentially, Aronofsky made a 101-minute anti-drug PSA. The DP should be lauded for making the film cool-looking, but without the pretty shots it's useless.

And, I don't know what movies 2nd and 3rd-year film students think you should be watching. I just know this one sucks.

It all makes sense to me now, go about your business enjoying horrible movies and hating great movies. its like this when you are agreeing with W2BTD on movies then you know you are in the wrong, that guy has got one of the worst taste in movies on this board.

I would like to defend myself here.

A lot of you guys say I have bad taste in movies. I disagree with this (obviously), but I will explain why.

I would say that a person with bad taste in movies would be somebody who likes a lot of shitty movies.

Here's the thing, I don't like shitty movies. In fact, I don't like many movies at all, period.

I don't have bad taste, I have incredibly picky taste. I am a curmudgeon when it comes to movies, I dislike probably 80% of the movies I see. When you break it down that way, I actually have better taste than the rest of you schmucks, because you fools like any and all sorts of shit.

 

[Houston]

A story about a guy with "anterograde amnesia" trying to solve a murder mystery. And a film with two different timelines heading in two separate yet same destinations. Yeah this is a recipe for disaster that very few could pull off, fortunately Nolan is one of them.

I'm not gonna get into details or certain scenes because I'll confuse myself. My favorite thing about the movie though, is the cat and mouse like game that the audience plays with the main character. In half of the story he's fumbling around clueless as we at least think we know whats going on. And in the other, he's the one holding all the answers to questions we didn't even know we had. To make it even better, these two halves are constantly intercepting each other for control of the movie.


I'll say it again, Memento is like this era's version of "Vertigo" except somehow taken to another level. Shame how many people haven't seen it.
