My expectations of OS as a site are to go over there and find rosters and sliders quickly and efficiently. Anything outside of that, I've been around the sports gaming community long enough to realize they are all shills that will do anything to get jobs or be associated with this video game company. Something tells me it is less than most think, and couple in the ridiculous hours you work along side of it...ehhhh.

That said, if it is something you love to do, it doesn't matter how much you make as long as you love what you do.

I don't necessarily love what I do, but I get paid a lot to compensate for the lack of love. But, I'd take a lot less if there was a situation that was perfect with job/living area, etc.

Not sure if everybody is aware but gaming companies give gaming websites incentives to give them high reviews/censor criticism of their titles. They give you a pipeline of free games, stuff to giveaway, early screenshots, etc.

When VSN was an actual site in the gaming scene and we tried to be reputable. We dealt with 2-3 gaming companies (the ones you see on OS but I can't name names) that got pissed off at us when we gave them a realistic game review.

We got an angry email claiming "How are you going to do that to us after all we did for you, the only way we can continue our relationship is if you bump our grade higher"

It's a bitch form of advertising if you ask me. Every single site you go to for game reviews OS, GameSpot, GameFaqs, or w/e shit is still out there...they are doing it 100%.

You suck their dick to move up. We cut all ties to dealing with gaming companies when EA tried to make us ban/remove posts by users photoshopping NCAA Producer Ben Haumiler.

I got the same perks MM, VSN and OS got and I reviewed the games how I saw fit.....EA or 2K never came at me sideways about a review when I gave a low score......

I just don't see the benefit of hiring these mopes if you are EA. They already give you all the free advertising you can get and when they bring in these people from "the community" it isn't like they make a fuckin difference in the product. I know several people that have gone, and if not permanently worked for them, helped out in "the process" and not a single thing benefited the end result, and from what I've heard from someone i trust that helped out, EA was about the most unorganized group of rag tags known to man (at least the NCAA group). Brutal. F- worthy.

I figured this was the case. Back when I would buy yearly editions of NCAA and Madden, you would hear about all the "new stuff" and how "new programmers" were working on the game so that it would be improved. And every year it seemed that the game remained pretty much unchanged from year-to-year with the exception of the superfluous "Heisman mode" type crap. So the game was pretty much set in stone, and the new ideas were just for the peripheral stuff.

I figure Sliz is probably offering a couple suggestions that get ignored or were asked for too late in the programming process, sorting mail, and getting coffee for Stephensonmc.

Again, I just don't see the point of EA actually bringing in these community guys. A) They don't actually make a difference and B) They are much more beneficial when they aren't on the payroll, shilling for these random internet websites. Sliz has been reviewing games for years...surely he's gotten a rep and people actually "trust" his reviews. Basically, he sells more games shilling than he does there working on code.

Maybe they give them jobs to keep the shilling going. Maybe sooner or later the shill sites would have caught on they were shilling for no reason, but offering these kids jobs actually keeps up the veil of that there is a reason to shill. They don't view game design as an "art" despite the name of their company. The best artwork is not censored by some corporate producer. I bet there's a lot of good ideas amongst the dev staff that get swatted down by marketing or some producer because they can't justify putting the resources toward it if it won't look good on the back of the box.

What is worse, is that every year, its the same issue.

Punters and Kickers and Guards and Fullbacks being taken high. Imported classes looking like shit.

They were so awful at putting together automated draft classes, they said fuck it and just made there own stock classes, made 30 of them because they couldn't get the randomizer to work correctly for 10 years and rolled with that...yet, imported classes still come in with some sort of random OVR, and they can't get the code right to make it so punters, kickers, fullbacks, and guards don't carry the same importance as quarterback and defensive tackle.

Yet, the best they can come up with, is "Team A takes Player A because he is the best guy on the board that meets a need where he'd be rated ahead of who we already have on the roster"...I mean, seriously, that is the best you can do?
