I'm not denying that those cops, or that cops in general are douchebags and overzealous but this video doesn't prove anything either way.

It's funny how everyone automatically assumes that the cops are in the wrong when it's obvious the clip is edited. For all we know the footage of the fan chanting JETS could've been from the 1st quarter while the rest of the footage could've been from the 4th. I think youtube lets you upload videos up to 10 minutes long, so why did the guy who made this video skip over the most important part? It was done intentionally and that makes the video suspect.

Have you ever heard of the term innocent until proven guilty? Yet you, firstimer, and a few others, find the need to defend the cops no matter what even though you haven't seen the guy doing anything. Not only that, but you hear several fans telling the cops that the guy didn't do anything.

So now you have anonymous witnesses defending the jets fans. if this were to go to court, guarantee you all the charges against the jets fan would be dropped since he has witnesses (assuming they're willing to testify).

after all of that, that cop tries to tell that guy how to talk to him. sorry officer, but i can say whatever i want to you and you can't do a fucking thing about it. what are you going to do, arrest me for telling you that the guy you just arrested didn't do a fucking thing? L O L.

I'm actually sticking up for a JESTS fan which is fucking crazy. But like Tailback said there is nothing in that video that warrants anyone to be treated that way.

Maybe the fan did do something to get himself arrested, but we didn't see it, and we see an anonymous witness defending him. therefore, we have no grounds for accusations whatsoever. anyone defending the cops here is incredibly naive and sheltered.

The fact that the people defending him were both in front and behind him make it very easy for me to criticize the police here. This means that whatever happened, one of the people defending the man would have seen it... yet they were still sticking up for him. It isnt like the only ones who were defending him were in front and wouldnt have seen if he did something that was deemed 'arrest worthy'.

I realize the video was cut, but like many others are saying, we are going off of what we saw. What we saw was Chargers fans, who probably didnt like this guy being there to begin with, supporting his cause. The fans who were supporting him would have seen what happened, and if they thought he deserved to get arrested, dont you think they would be cheering about the police coming?

I just dont think people should sit here and stand up for the police just because a part of the video was cut. The fact that the opposing fans are supporting the JETS fan should be proof enough.

Oh yeah, and if this went to court, there is no way in hell the charges would stick. If anything, based on this evidence, the JETS fan has every right to sue.

You're right there is a witness, and the cops were a dick to him. Most cops are dicks that's not going to get you out of anything.

There's also footage of him resisting arrest. There's footage of a witness saying someone threw something at him (and implying that was at least part of the situation that lead to his arrest), and the guy says that this fan got into a physical altercation with a chargers fan (in the video description). Something was obvious going on and there's more than what the video shows. It's also pretty obvious that the guy who made this video is biased, that combined with the clear editing hurts the credibility of this video severely.

Those stadiums have rules that allow for fans to get kicked out for being obnoxious, using swear words, being drunk and generally causing problems. He'd have a hell of a time proving none of those things happened. What are the witnesses gonna do, show up to court and keep saying "he didn't do anything!" over an over again?

Define doing nothing wrong. Like I said those stadiums have rules that define a lot of things as "wrong." Like me personally I don't think there's anything wrong with being publicly intoxicated or swearing but according to Qualcomm stadium rules (that he agreed to when he went in there) those, amongst other things are "wrong." When those fans say he didn't do anything wrong I doubt they know exactly what the rules are. I doubt stadium security and eventually police are going to be called to remove a guy who didn't break a single rule, and this video doesn't prove that happened.

From the video, it's clear that the cops arrest the Jets fan for something. We don't know what, but we do know that several Chargers fans are booing the cops and telling them that he didn't do anything.

They could easily go straight to the SDPD after the game, or right then there, and file a complaint. They could have left their phone numbers with the Jets fan's girlfriend and told her to call them if they need any witnesses to testify.

Something like this happened to me before. I got charged with a felony for assaulting an officer when the cop actually initiated and instigated everything. Luckily, I had anonymous witnesses file complaints to the police department and testify for me which ultimately led to the charges being reduced to an infraction for disturbing the peace.

The police report that the cops filed on me was completely fabricated and utterly ridiculous. It was filled with blatant lies and so much bullshit that I actually laughed when I read it. Thankfully, I had those witnesses, otherwise I would have most likely had a felony on my record for getting beat up by a cop.

You know what's more annoying than people taking the bait and criticizing cops? When people blindly believe that cops are always in the right and always act in nobility. What a fucking joke.

And I have 4 friends who are police officers, so I don't hate all cops, I just don't believe for one second that they are holier than thou.

And I'm not saying the cops are absolutely wrong. I'm saying that judging from this video and this video alone, the cops look like they are the ones acting like assholes - not the Jets fan.

And since this video is all we have to go by, everyone in this thread should think the same way, while fully understanding that the video is edited and there is more to the story. But if you are going to judge someone here, based on this video, you have to judge the cops.

I think we're saying the same thing. I don't think cops are always wrong, nor do I always think they are always right.

I just don't like it when people blindly want to defend the cops, especially in this instance where all we have is this little video clip to go by.

You don't get mad at rules, you get mad when the people that are supposed to enforce them don't enforce them correctly. Cops aren't robots. They are trained to handle pressure situations correctly and follow procedure. Not only that, but they are expected to. If they can't do that then they need to find another line of work. And if they don't follow proper protocol then they need to face consequences.

Always. People who are being arrested always need to be defended in order to make sure that law enforcement isn't abusing their power. It's society's duty to do so. Checks and balances.

I know one thing is for sure, at any opposing stadium at any level, if you face the crowd and chant like that, you will get shit thrown at you. Like it or not it will happen, especially in the NFL and the home team is losing.


Fuck at the Giants-Panthers game when the GMen were running in for halftime down 24-0, Tynes almost took a beer bottle to his head by some fan. When you put thousands of drunks in a small area, problems will ensue, especially if some opposing fan provokes the crowd.l
