What I think is the saddest part is Smith is now using this as an example to hold himself up and pat himself on the back when he should be realizing that no matter how good your sources are, if you are a complete ass hat, people will not believe what you say.

It is clear that LBJ's motivation is winning and it surely wasn't going to happen in Cleveland. You have teams like the Knicks, Heat, and Bulls making their teams better while the Cavs sit back and hope Lebron comes back. Now I don't know what the Cav's cap was but they could have done SOMETHING.

It is sad that this move to Miami will hurt his legacy. If any other superstar had the opportunity to play with 2 other superstars, you don't think they would jump at the opportunity? If LBJ and the Heat win multiple championships, nobody is going to really care who was on the team. All they will care about is the 5 rings LBJ has. And if he continues putting up great numbers, he will be in the GOAT conversation.

What really bothered me was how the Cav's owner threw Lebron under the bus today. Its fine to be pissy that you weren't able to keep arguably the best player in the NBA in Cleveland but don't be a faggot about it.

If in 1990 Michael Jordan signs with the Pistons and Isiah Thomas and wins let's say 4-5 titles with the Pistons, people aren't saying he's the GOAT. Even if MJ is clearly the best player on that Pistons team the stigma of going to a team with an already established superstar (who has won titles already) after failed attempts at winning a championship by himself completely changes the perception.

YOU might not believe it but IMO you would be in the very small minority
 
Especially if up till 1990 Jordan was the same player he was. Got close, kept losing, kept losing... then tags up with an already established guy.

That would KILL a greatest of all time legacy. Even if Jordan is the top dog, even if Isiah is pretty much tagging on at that point it's the perception that LeBron has created.
 
Say what you want about him, but Patrick Ewing never ran to Chicago to be Jordan's bitch, or any other city, for the sake of winning the title, and I have more respect for him doing so.

Makes it even rougher when you consider what the Knicks did to him in 2001, which is what started this whole mess.

I've been at work all day, I don't have a computer I can use to read up on articles about Lebron James.

We can continue to argue about this but it is all going to be speculation until he wins a few titles and then retires. IMO people are still going to consider him when talking about the greatest players of all time because that is what he should and will end up.

There are obviously going to be people who think he took the easy way out and his legacy is tarnished forever but I don't think that is going to be the majority opinion.
 
The difference with Ewing is by the time he would've realistically left to be MJ's 2nd/3rd guy he would've been in the last half of his career. Let's say 1996ish (he'd be 34 years old) I can respect that a little bit (ala Payton, Malone, etc).

If Michael Jordan in 1990 at age 27 jumped onto the Pistons coattails and wins a few titles even as their best players, he's not touching Magic - Bird - Wilt - Russell in the GOAT argument. I absolutely believe that. Maybe I'm wrong, but think of that scenario.

I'm not sure if it was here where someone said it, but I see him at Dr. J level now. Which is fine, but Dr. J isn't on Mt. Rushmore. He got some titles, he has a legacy, people remember him and remember him fondly, but he's not (in my opinion) as FT said "in the penthouse".

I have a feeling that having such a poor playoff performance scared him and he started doubting if he really is good enough. I don't have anything to go on, except what I saw in the playoffs and just a feeling.

He did seem to lose confidence in that Boston playoff series.
