What was wrong with the graphics?

I liked the trailer for the most part. They most likely played on Rookie/Pro as to show off the breaking tackle animations (Thus, Willie Parkers dominance). The pocket looked really good (albeit, the camera angle manipulates thigns) and they have, you know, added gang tackles. Pretty nice.

New WR/DB animations looked better, but we only really saw them playing the deep ball for the most part. I'm not gong to give them a good job for those until I see them guarding posts, outs and curls.

There was some choppiness in and out of a few animations (especially the tackle ones), but since I watched it on a computer from an April trailer I won't get too down.

All in all, its a trailer. New gang tackles and the pocket looked really nice, but we didn't see a whole lot of real substance. Defensive pursuit and logic are still a mystery. Run blocking logic is still a mystery. Exploits weren't addressed. Obviously there wasn't any franchise mode info.

I'll give it a solid 8...8.5, mainly because they didn't show very much (mostly, the same 3 scenarios several times). Choppiness needs to be addresed.

But EA time and time again has let me down. You guys continue to tell yourself you're going to see a much better game in August. I'll wait and see for myself.

Games don't go gold, get copied, packaged and shipped all the day before release.

Adem probably knows best but I'm guessing 2-2.5 months left in '10 development.

Yeah but that doesn't mean massive gameplay mechanics changes are being made the day before. I'd say in June sometime they'll stop doing any major changes to the game. After that its all testing for bugs and whatnot.

When did i say major changes would happen the day before? I said that im not basing if i buy it or not on a game thats nowhere near done. There's plenty of time between now and then to change things.

I really liked the shot of the ref signaling for a first down on an apparent fumble. The guys underneath him seemed to be fighting for the ball while on the ground. I didn't really catch it the first time I watched it. It was pretty cool.

you guys look for the negatives too much. I've never seen people so nitpicky over a game. yes i know the excuse i don't want to waste my 60 dollars is going to get thrown at me, but honestly you guys head into this thread with your mind already made up that EA is going to let you down and the game isn't so good. Take it for what it is, a trailer in April, and try to enjoy the game rather than harping on errors.

I agree 100%. Some of the same people in this thread were excited about the new call of duty trailer and that showed next to nothing.

I don't know if I said it here, but I did not like this trailer. It was played on rookie to recreate Superbowl moments, and whoever put it together was sloppy. I'm really interested in hearing what Dave thought of it though.

This is big... being steerable and dynamic. A big back will drag the pile toward the first down, while the defenders can steer him away from it. Apparently the play can be blown dead when progress is stopped, but I never saw it happen when I was there.

Most I ever saw was 6... 4 defenders, the ball carrier, and an offensive lineman jumping on the pile to drive it over the goalline. It was a pretty cool moment. Yes, players can be added to the pileup in progress, it's not canned, and it's not all just guys standing their chopping their feet.

This was controversial, and I don't like that they characterize it as part of Pro-Tak. I guess it technically is, but it works differently. I can't explain yet.

QB control was greatly improved. They almost purposefully screwed this up in the damn trailer. I can't believe they didn't show any of this off.

Well, some of the negatives are what they are. The throwing animation really does have that stupid crouch, which bugs me. He looks like a pitcher dropping his back knee. Yes QBs bend their knees when they throw, but not THAT far. The running animation still sucks, but Ian said that's still on the list, so we'll see. It was something I mentioned but didn't spend a lot of time on at CD simply because it's a minor thing if the game plays well.

But a lot of the crap I saw in that trailer... those two idiot DBs having their own personal footrace down the sideline when Fitz broke inside, the linemen standing around doing nothing, gang tackles being nothing but guys standing around chopping their feet, 09 route running, DBs turning around instantly like they just morphed through themselves... we did not see this stuff at CD.

and I think that's the basic point. It wasn't made to showcase the game as one fluid whole, it was made to show off little pieces and by doing that, they made the other stuff look like crap. I also think they somehow "disabled" certain aspects of the game, because I saw spots where you should have seen certain things happen but they didn't. One of them is very, very big and hasn't been addressed in a blog yet.
