I thought the trailer was good for what it was. Like adem said and the post from Ian on OS, it's clear it was played on a lower difficulty and there were specific things that they wanted to show off which is unfortunate.

Hopefully we'll get some actual gameplay footage as we'll see it in the game (not from "trailer" camera angles) on at least All-Pro difficulty so we can get a better idea of what to expect. I was encouraged by adem's and Ian's post saying that a lot of the stuff wasn't like that at community day or was done intentionally to show things off.

I'm sorry, but if you already know people are going to look at it and feel bad about it, why would you put it out without having it more polished.

its understandable that you were trying to emulate the big plays in the superbowl, but its fucking stupid to do it and not care about holes in your game that people are obviously going to see.

sounds more like a fucking excuse to me... I've always bought madden blindly and the only madden that ever truly disappointed me was 09, I know for a fact now that I'll rent it before I buy it, and Mr. Cummings (gay name) hasn't done much to make me change my opinion on that matter.

Not trying to make excuses but honestly, the trailer decision probably came more from the marketing guys as opposed to the developers which is why Ian is having to come out and explain reasoning why.

I agree 100%. Some of the same people in this thread were excited about the new call of duty trailer and that showed next to nothing.

Except Call of Duty 4 wasn't a horrible mess. People still play COD4 even though COD:WaW came out.

In previous years they didn't release the trailer this early. When they gave us the demo in august about a week before the game came out it was a build from april and the game itself was leaps above the demo. You can't compare previous years trailers to this years by saying that. Last year the trailers started to come out in June and July.

yes they have. The draft weekend was the week we'd see trailers for Madden and NCAA popping up for the past 3 to 4 years. What we saw in April was what we got in July.

But EA time and time again has let me down. You guys continue to tell yourself you're going to see a much better game in August. I'll wait and see for myself.

Yeah. The trailer comes out, and now people like Adem are insisting that the actual game won't be the piece of horse shit the trailer made it out to be. Unless Adem is going to give my money back, when 2010 ends up disappointing me, this thing just went from buy to rent. I was one of the people hyping this trash, due to all the blogs and shit that came out. I even told a bunch of friends that this year is going to be different, and judging by the trailer, I won't hear the end of it.

That trailer just totally killed me. But I'll wait to see the final product, but no way is this thing buy first anymore, not after seeing that trailer. And if the game ends up being anything like the trailer, the entire community who tested the piece of shit, shouldn't quit their day jobs.

You're absolutely right. People had it in their heads that they would like that trailer no matter how good or bad it was the same way people were ready to hate the madden trailer whether it was good or not.

You must have missed the hype that was started to pick up prior to the trailer. People were thinking that EA had turned a corner and this was going to be a new era.

The fact that Ian Cummings had to come out and make a statement about the trailer to keep the hype train from being derailed says something.

MW2 was a teaser trailer. This wasn't a teaser. This was an actual gameplay trailer.

I'm aware of the hype it was getting. I'm also aware of the hate it was getting. I don't agree with Ian Cummings coming out and making that statement though. If what he said in that statement is true then, he should've not said anything and let it show in the next trailer.
