Yeah, I would like that too. I like pretty much every ending I've read better than what Bioware gave us. Hell, I wouldn't even mind if the game ended with Anderson and Shepard talking at the end. That moment was fucking GREAT, and even if it ended on a slightly sad note, it was well written and true to the arc and characters.

Not to change the subject, but I wish there were more multiplayer maps. Also, as more of a pipe dream: I wish there were more co-operative players. Yes, I get that you don't get any immediate benefit from being the one that hacks one of the 4 individual consoles, but we all benefit in the end you ass hats. Stop running off and killing everything and leaving every console to me. Also, combining powers is fun and useful and can really wreck shit, so instead of just running around like crazy people, let's try to utilize all of our strengths (also, can we not have a 4 Vangaurd team?).

Oh and I really wish there was a way to breakdown/sell extra items and weapons for more credits for loot. The loot system is too silly for me to justify paying actual money for because it's still just as random as paying with credits, so I won't go that route, and a lot of this shit I don't use just takes up space and never gets used.

Honestly, I just hope it turns out that the ending is a hallucination trapped in the dreams of a dying Shepard.

I've been very interested in the idea of what happens when you die. Supposedly, your brain releases an insane amount of DMT from your pineal gland (the same way you dream in REM sleep) that eases you into death.

If the ending is actually a dying dream, it actually makes sense. No one survived, the cycle continues, and Shepard went out the only way he imagined it happening. Everyone he loved did what they could to survive (although they didn't, but that doesn't matter much now), which is the ultimate victory of "we" over "self".

That would also tie directly back into Legion's sacrifice for the greater good of the galaxy. His final reference to himself as "I" is a continuation of this concept of sacrifice for life as whole. The constant reminder throughout that Shepard is such an amazing individual that is leading others to greatness by "overwriting" their ideals at the expense of their lives means it only makes sense in the end that Shepard would have to do the same. The depressing part is that it seems like it was all for naught.

 

The ending could definitely be written off as Shepard experiencing a DMT trip. But it would have to be elaborated on in DLC.

Well, I definitely don't think they have to explain it as such.

I also laugh at the thought that the final image of Shepard gasping for breath in the rubble DEFINITELY means he survives. It's like people have never thought of the the idea of taking your final breath...

I'm pretty sure that that gasp is Shepard's final breath of life. Bioware gives you that much, at least. Makes sense for a "best" ending.

So I just had a really long, interesting discussion with my roommate about ME3 and I think I'm beginning to understand more and more what BioWare was after, but I won't know for sure until they come out and spill the beans.

 

I now wholeheartedly believe in the theory of meta-hallucination.

The moment you hit the beam and that white light fades in, Shepard is gone. He has lost the physical fight.

But what comes next is a spiritual war. During the argument with the Illusive Man that's Shepard, the character, as he imagines the end of it all. This is Commander Shepard's final dying dream. The lines are clearly defined between good and evil, and Commander Shepard (as you've defined him) does what he believes is right.

The final sequence is a spiritual test for you, the person that is playing the game. The Creator of the universe has taken the form of the boy, the same one that says "you can't help me" in the very beginning. And it's true. This entire story has been leading to this moment from the very beginning. Everyone who has played this series knew it, but they refused to believe it. Shepard was always going to die, and it was always going to happen in the harshest moment.

But what happens next is up to you - as YOU - not as Shepard. For the entirety of three games and this story, you have been projecting (hopefully) your ideals onto Shepard. But now, in these final moments, your ideals are being projected back onto you.

The final choice is a mirror. It's a defining moment for you as an individual - a moment in which you can understand the kind of person you really are. There are no good or bad decisions, necessarily. They all have the same end. But they do speak to the kind of person you are (or, like me, wish you were).

And doesn't that maybe make it the best ending ever?

Honestly it's hard to spin this a way that doesn't require immediate DLC to address the issues. So hopefully that link to "The Truth" is real. And free.

I think that it's stupid, aside from the fact that it is raising money for charity. Bioware invented these characters, these worlds, and even the way that the two interact together. If, at the end of the day, they decide that that is the conclusion that they want, so be it. I understand people are upset with it, but acting like because you bought a few games you're entitled to what you want creatively is just stupid. This whole THING is stupid. Don't like the ending, I get it. Petitions and shit like that? Fucking stupid, internet trash. Go fucking create something yourself.

If, at the end of the day, they decide that that is the conclusion that they want, so be it. I'm not against more ME3 but it's gonna be hard to explain how Shepard's still kicking around after the Control/Synthesis endings.

Maybe a copy of the Shepard VI gets installed in a Bot?

Other than that, it's all filler DLC to fill in Plot Gaps (maybe a Reach-style DLC explaining the final days of the Citadel before TIM and the Reapers take it over) or more co-op maps...

You can beat the game in under 20 hours if you just do Priorty missions and do nothing else.

Less so if you play through Action or Story mode.

A 'bad' ending is guaranteed though.
