Yeah now I'm pissed again too. I don't want anything to do with DLC if there just going to play on the stupid choices they gave us.

Also the indoctrination theory goes out the window with the little clip of the man and the boy at the end that you get.

 

Whatever Shepard chooses, Synthesis, Control or Destory. All ends up well however far in the future that is. It doesn't matter what you pick so long as your EMS is high enough. You win, the Reapers lose. No matter what (barring your EMS being shit).

My interpretation of that post credit part isn't as literal as yours.

We shall see. I too wish the ending were better, but as it is, it doesn't harm my overall feelings for the game or series. While I still think that ME2 is the best, this is a close 2nd for me.

 

I'd say it harms my feelings for this game quite a bit actually. Everything up until that beam I'm fine with. Like I just said in my last post, GIVE US THE BATTLE! It's fucking lame we only get to see what Shepard sees on the Citadel with this random entity giving us 3 BS choices that alter NOTHING about the ending cutscene. The only thing that differs is how you imagine the rest of the ending (which they don't show) in your head. And that's cheap, and just fucking stupid. We do everything we can to get war assets for this battle. SHOW THE FIGHT! The ending we got is lazy. Inexcusable really.

What's the point of bringing all these characters back if we don't get them on our squad and we don't even get to witness their badassery taking down reapers? I was just itching to see Samara throw down during the fight. I wanted to see Jack impress her students during the climatic battle shredding husks with ease. Let's see the rachni (which we could potentially save twice) in a unbelievably huge swarm just rip a Reaper apart from the inside and out. Give us that feeling that the choices we made have come to fruition in the final battle.

Like I said the more I think about it, the more pissed I am... And reading the script to the final scene with the child and the choices reminded me of how shit the ending really was. :smh:

What happens when your character gets to level 20? Do you just not get XP anymore? I know you can send them to fight and get them in the war room. But do you start again at level 1? No idea how it works and I'd rather just keep my drell vanguard at level 20 :shifty:

There is really no point to having a level 20 unless you just want to try and beat Gold or have an easier time on Silver for loot purposes. No, you don't collect XP after 20.

I would honestly recommend keeping him because promoting is kind of pointless considering if you play enough of the MP, even if you're a complete assbag in SP you'll still have like 5000 in assets by the end of the game.

We were kicking ass on Silver last night as essentially a two man team since the other guys either backed out or didn't do much of anything. I think it's time we went to Gold.

Man, I totally disagree about the indoctrination theory. There is very little about it that seems like people are trying to make it work. Particularly when you start to delve into a lot of the codex. Too much about the kid, the ending, everything, just doesn't add up in the context of the whole series. As I've said before, the only way to fix this would be the indoctrination theory. Otherwise, the ending just doesn't make sense. I like the ending in that link, but they aren't going to "change" the ending, it would be too hard to do. So if they work within the context of what they have, I think they can pull it off and give it some closure. If they don't go the indoctrination route, then it just becomes a fantasy ending which would be insane considering how rooted in actual science the game is (I also think without indoctrination this ending would make the Bioware Doctors vomit).

Also, what happens to everyone else if it is indoctrination, did they all die? I mean since the choices would have been metaphoric and not literal, choosing destruction means Shepard just breaks the hold and isn't indoctrinated. The other two means he is.

So what the fuck happens to the Reapers? We don't know because Shepard is lying unconscious in London and presumably everyone else dies. Thats weak to me. The ending should always have been destroying the Reapers (if your EMS is high enough) but the way you go about it would've been the tough decision you had to make.

Plus I hated not being able to see what all the characters were doing at the end. To me, thats what made this series. The story was good, the gameplay was good, but the characters and setting were what put it over the top. And I would've liked to see everyone I'd forged a relationship with at the end doing something. Fighting against overwhelming odds, working together. Maybe even defending the Conduit thing or something. You can't just have them go away like that.

I also really dislike the Catalyst being an essence or whatever. You can't spring that supernatural stuff on us like that at the end. Thats sloppy writing.

Also I'm pretty sure I had a glitched copy because I after I made my choice and saw the little clip, the game took me back to before I started the final mission. I got the achievements and everything but that was weird.

At the end of the day, this is one of my favorite series I've played. The ending keeps it from being the best though. I really don't think it should've been that hard to write either.

You're not glitched, it's just so you can play DLC.

Maybe what they're doing with this shit ending is setting us up for another Mass Effect that takes place at the end of the next cycle? Really can't say much until the clarification DLC comes out, but you gotta think there's no way this is the last Mass Effect game. If I had to guess what the next installment would be like:

Let us choose our species for the next game! (Bring the Prothean race back :shifty: ) Expand on our character's background and creation just a bit. And focus on the parts of the series fans already are in love with. The characters and the setting. The gameplay to this point is phenomenal in my opinion. Minor tweaks here and there making it even more fluid then it is could be enough.

Also the multiplayer experience has been a welcome addition, there's room for expansion here as well. :dunno:

My guess would be if you choose anything but the destroy option, the Reapers have won. And there's basically no way that anybody can stop them ever again in future cycles since each time they come back stronger for the next harvest.

If you choose the destroy option, since it shows Shepard's body breathe, I would assume the Reapers have been defeated. Maybe in a similar way to how you pointed out that his armada could have conceivably won. The battles over, our cycle has beat the Reapers. That said, I haven't finished my 2nd playthrough and actually saw that ending yet.

I guess that depends on what Shepard chose. I'm not disagreeing that it's an issue, it's why I've always said some sort of Fallout/Dragon Age Origins epilogue should have been there from the start. There are SO many questions unanswered, it has nothing to do with indoctrination, it's just that they didn't attempt to offer any closure. THAT'S what I don't understand. They can end it however they want and even the last choice not necessarily falling in line with the idea of the choice that the game claims to have doesn't bother me. It's that you don't see the outcome to your choices in the game. That is just bizarre and pretty stupid.

 

I want to know how keeping Wrex alive benefited the Krogan. I want to know if the genophage was always the right thing to do, or if curing it really did see the Krogan improve themselves. I want to see how the Quarians and Geth are getting along, and if their union is doomed to repeat history. Stuff like that is what I find inexcusable about the ending. The indoctrination theory works fine in the context of the ending, it's just that they didn't tell us ANYTHING that happened post Shepard that bothers me.

Right. Shepard's fate wasn't all that important to me. I knew it was a one way ticket for awhile. In fact I liked it that way, because the galaxy really doesn't have a need for Shepard after the Reapers. Like you said Seth, I wanted to see what happens to everyone else. The two things Mass Effect was supposed to be about, choices and the characters, were basically left out of the ending. It strayed away from what it was and what it was great at.

I think a Mass Effect MMO is more likely to be honest.

At least with the Geth the Decoy ability of the Engineer seems to be broken...they are suckers for that. For whatever reason it seems like the Reapers just ignore that shit.
