I saw a list of these (Top 100), and I agree with NAHSTE, the ratings look like shit. I'll have to log onto the game to examine further, but these look no better than some of the other shitty sets that were already available.
I spent about 2 hours going through every team reducing OVRs a bit. Almost across the board the contact and power ratings were too high (or H/9, K/9 for pitching prospects). Certain teams were fine, like the Orioles for example, whoever did them gave them solid ratings. If anything, they were a little harsh with certain guys (Gausman a 69) but I left them alone.
The big problem teams were the Braves (the fringy Sean Gilmartin received a 78 OVR, same as veteran starters like PAUL MAHOLM, which we can't have) Mariners (Zunino and Hultzen were way too high) and Cardinals (Michael Wacha an 80, Taveras an 83, GTFO). Interestingly, the Astros are fucked in the opposite direction. Too many of their guys are low, and whoever did that team was apparently asleep at the wheel. Delino DeShields Jr. was given speed in the 60s when most scouts agree he's only one or two notches below Billy Hamilton. I moved him to 92 speed and that got his OVR up to around 69. Singleton and Correa were also way too low, I gave them a little boost. Miguel Sano was an interesting one, but he seemed a touch high to me. I reduced his raw hitting ratings a bit and made him a worse fielder, that got him down to a 69, which I feel is about right for someone with a 2014 ETA, especially considering Sony has a good number of guys with major league jobs in the high 60s.
Essentially I used Profar (78) and Bundy (79) as the top of the spread and compressed everyone else to fit within a 64-76 scale using standard deviations. Dropped Puig from 77 to 73, Soler from 75 to 70ish, etc. Got Taveras down to 77 which seems about right, his secondary skills like speed and arm were way inflated, and his bat ratings were like 30% higher than where Sony has Profar.
If you guys want me to upload the roster to the vault I will, it's not perfect or anything, but it at least has all of the minor league OVR ratings falling within a reasonable distribution range.
