Thanks a lot man! I use the Perfect Sliders from OS with a few tweaks on All Star, I find that the pace on All Star is what I want it to be and I like my games to go fast so I trained my sliders towards that.

Richmond, Burres consecutive complete games weren't flukes

​

TORONTO, ON (AP) -- Think of all the greatest pitching combinations in Toronto Blue Jays history. Dave Stieb and Dave Winfield. David Wells and David Cone. Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett. Brian Burres and Scott Richmond.

Brian Burres and Scott Richmond?

If you told a Torontonian two years ago that these two would throw consecutive complate games for a Toronto baseball team they would have said, "No one cares about the Maple Leafs." (The Maple Leafs are an indepedent league team based in Toronto)

Yet, against all odds the unlikely pair became the first pair in Jays history, and only the 17 in MLB history, to throw consecutive complete games against the same opponent. They both allowed five hits, and one walk while Burres allowed one more run and struck out one more batter than Richmond.

"It's great man, obviously it feels good to get your first complete game but when a teammate does it as well it's just that much sweeter." Burres smiled yesterday after Richmond had finished his 98 pitch gem.

Indeed no one would have guessed that this pair would make history as each had trouble finding a niche to make the MLB.

"Obviously I'm 30 next year and I'm only a rookie and yes it was hard but I'm here now and I won't look back on the past." Richmond said yesterday at his press conference.

The native of Vancouver, B.C., Richmond bounced around pro teams in Canada and the U.S. before earning a tryout after his performance for Canada at the 2006 World Baseball Classic. He stuck and last July 13 made his major league debut, fanning 6 in a 3-2 loss to the Rays. He finished 2008 with a 1-3 record and a 5.65 ERA but was still not a lock to make the team even with injuries to incumbants Shaun Marcum and Dustin McGowan. However, with a 3-0 record with a 2.11 ERA in Spring Training Jays brass could not say no to the 29 year old and he landed the fifth spot in the rotation, a spot which he still holds strong with a 11-7 record and a 4.23 ERA.

"I really increased my reportoire this Spring and just came out gunning and it paid off." Richmond said of his Spring Training heroics.

Burres came from the Baltimore Orioles organization as the compensation for the Gregg Zaun signing. Burres was not expected much off and started the year with Triple-A Las Vegas as a middle reliever. By May, he had been promoted to staff ace and compiled a 9-3 record and 2.11 ERA before being called up in mid-July to replace the struggling Matt Clement. Two months later and his spot is virtually locked in stone.

"It's great to be given a vote of confidence and I think that I have a lot more in the tank and am getting ready to unleash it." Burres said.

As the Jays continue to fight for the AL wildcard spot, they will need these two surprising stars to keep their current level if they want to have any chance of dethroning the Yankees.

Roy Halladay takes the mound against the Rays in the series finale as he tries to become one third of the first threesome to throw three straight complete games tonight.
