TAMPA, FL- After an eventful first month and a half of the season, with Manny Ramirez breaking tons of records, we finally got our first trade of the year when the struggling Milwaukee Brewers sent veteran catcher Jason Kendall to the Tampa Rays for some much needed bullpen help in Dan Wheeler.

Both teams had breakout years last year but in both cases are now floundering in their respective divisions, Tampa with a 13-26 record and Milwaukee with an 18-19 record.

Kendall will give a veteran prescense to the notoriously young Rays lineup and Dan Wheeler will give some help to a bullpen that has already blown five saves this year.

"I'm happy with the trade, obviously we aren't doing well so far this year but hopefully Jason can bring something to our team that can help us win." Rays GM Andrew Friedman said of the move.

Ahrens out 2-3 Weeks

BOSTON, MA -- A routine ground ball was not so easy for top Blue Jays prospect Kevin Ahrens who landed awkwardly on his knee while diving for a ground ball in a Double-A game this past weekend. The third basemen was taken out of the game for precautionary reasons and was diagnosed as having a sprained ligament in his knee which will keep him out of action for 2-3 weeks.

Ahrens was ranked as the third best prospect in the Blue Jays system in 2009 by Baseball America and was batting .277 with two home runs and 14 RBIs while in Double-A New Hampshire. He was drafted 16th overall out of Memorial High in Houston, Texas where he led the Marauders to two state finals.

"It's tough when a young player like this goes down but we're happy to see it isn't anything serious and Kevin will be back in the lineup soon." Jays GM J.P. Riccardi said via a press release last night.
