MIAMI, FL-After a tremoundous start of the season that perhaps kept the Florida Marlins from becoming early cellar dwellers in the NL East, the Fish have lost there cornerstone for the rest of May.

Hanley Ramirez -- he of the .347 average, 12 home runs and 27 RBIs -- sprained a ligament in his knee while diving for a ball in a recent game against the New York Mets. He was placed on the 15 Day DL but many expect him to be out until Early June.

"It's tough [having your best player go down] but I believe that we can pull through this inconvience and win some ball games without Hanley." Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said.

The Marlins are 11-23 thru Sunday and are in the midst of a 9 game road trip that takes them to the East Coast.

Sadly they will have to play these game -- and more -- without, perhaps, the best young player in the game today.
