Velasquez was very impressive with his ground game last night. However, he needs to work on his stand-up game. Kongo was able to rock Velasquez a couple of times. Velasquez just needs to get used to taking a punch.

I say Velasquez takes another headlining bout and then gets a crack at the title if he wins that.
 
Velasquez vs. Carwin, winner gets a title shot.

Unfortunately, the Nog/Couture winner is next in line. I have ZERO interest in Nog at this point, and very little in Couture.

Instead, Dana got used. Al-Turk was the pawn, but hey, he swung for the fences and if he connected, he would have made himself a name.

Dana is the fool for taking him at his word without gettting it in ink. Remember how bad you feel for Dana today, when he's cutting a guy for "not being exciting enough" tommorow.

Dana is at fault for not getting Mirko to put pen to paper on his verbal agreement for a 3 fight deal. However, Mirko was dirty for bullshitting Dana about wanting to make a title run in HW division and how he wanted to erase the black mark on his record from his first stint in the UFC.

Per Dana, Mirko turned down a host of proposed fights and Al-Turk was pretty much all that was left. To add insult to injury, Mirko couldn't even tell Dana in a phone call. He texted Dana to let him know about his 3 fight deal with DREAM.

I think it's likely safe to say that Dana will be doing at least 2 fights deal from now on and there will be no more Cro Cop in the UFC...ever again.

Dana hasnt done a 1 fight deal in 9 years, this was his first for some strange reason (to feed Mirko to a rising star' and Mirko used him like he was trying to use Mirko

Mirko got him and now Dana is sad

I still dont see why Dana is mad, it was a 1 fight deal and Mirko fough 1 fight

Dana wanted Cro Cop to fight Vasquez. I guess Cro Cop wanted an "easier" opponent and then took the money from DREAM.

Cro Cop said he would sign a 3-fight deal after UFC 99 and lied. That's why Dana's pissed.

The irony is that based on what Velasquez showed, I'm not sure it would have been that tough of a fight for CroCop. Velaquez has questionable stand-up and while he would have a monster advantage on the ground, getting Mirko down is not easy.

Let's say Cro Cop lost to Cain Velasquez last night. Everything else stays the same. Cro Cop "lies" about wanting to sign for three fights, takes the DREAM offer, blows off the press conf.

Do you think Dana would still be pissed?

Dana is pissed because he wanted to use Cro Cop to help build one of his guys, and not only did he not get that, but Cro Cop ended up walking out of UFC a winner, too.

And who says Cro Cop lied about anything? I'm sure he did want to sign a 3 fight deal with Dana at some point, but DREAM swooped in and made him a better offer. Again, Dana has no one to blame but himself for letting Cro Cop not only walk into that cage with a one fight deal, but also hand pick a can to fight against.

Cro Cop fullfilled his contractual obligation, and took a better offer. Suck it, Dana.

Dana is lucky Cro Cop dodged Cain, because the Cain that fought last night would have gotten KTFO by the Cro Cop that fought last night.

Instead, Cain physically manhandled a guy who UFC fans see as a serious contender. Plus, Cain looked like such a beast in doing so, that Kongo ended up looking pretty good too, because he never quit and showed incredible heart.

Everyone wins.

That and Mirko really didnt look all that impressive last night. Al-Turk is just extremely wreckless and was leaving himself to get worked. That and an eye-poker isnt exactly the most impressive KO tactic.

I don't think Cro Cop would have been on his back.

Kongo was initiating clinches. No way Cro Cop fights that dumb. He was moving great last night. Cain gets no where near him IMO.

Have you seen Crocop's sprawls? He is not easy to get down to ground. Plus Kongo was able to tag Velasquez and hurt him every time he went in for a shot. Velasquez seemed to be able to complete the takedown almost on instinct, especially the first one. If Kongo (or Crocop) would have been able to sprawl and avoid the takedown, he could have had a chance to finish while Velasquez was obviously wobbled.
