Most boring, mundane NFL season I can ever remember

Speaking of rookie signal callers, I think one of the few highlights of the season. No one expected Dalton to be anything and he's leading an unlikely Bengals squad to a possible post-season berth. Cam's not getting it done in the W-L column, but he's provided some excitement to the Carolina fan base.

The Tebow-gasm has kind of taken attentiona way from some of these other young QB's doing well.

Basically the lead for every NFL story is the Packers or Tebow.

A total of three "good"/entertaining games all year...

Packers-Saints
Falcons-Saints
Lions-Cowboys

And then you have the last five minutes of every Broncos game (sans the Detroit game) since Tebow took over.

Aside from their shitty recent play, the Lions have also morphed from a 'feel good story' into a very hard to like, immature group led by a very unlikable head coach and star player.

'Suck for Luck' is down to one team in contention.

The Packers are the most boring undefeated team probably ever. That team has no juice or appeal to anyone outside Wisconsin.

Teams that are usually interesting and good, like the Jets, Chargers, and Colts , have either been disappointing or flat out terrible.

The 49ers are a nice story I guess, but i'm not feeling any buzz. The HC is a weirdo who is very hard to root for, and they are kinda boring to watch.

The leading rusher all season (until he got hurt) was the very pedestrian Fred Jackson.

Nobody is chasing any statistical records/milestones.

In general, the games have not been good. Before/after watching the Rams lose again, I usually put on Red Zone as background noise and either surf the internet or do things around the house. Especially true when Tebow isn't playing.

In past years, I would record the Sunday Ticket 'short cut' replays of all the games I missed on Sunday and rewatch them during the week, but this year I haven't bothered since week 2 or 3.

The AFC has been very boring, even the NE/PIT tilt, which was probably the marquee game of the AFC slate, wasn't that great because neither team is playing like an AFC Champion despite the fact that one of them may very well be it.

The NFC, ugh. The West is the West, and you nailed it with Harbaugh.

I'm amused watching Cam Newton, but I'm not sure if that's fantasy sports driven or if he's an exciting player....but I lean towards the former. I am a big Brees fan, I would say he's one of the spot lights of the NFL as he's just so skilled and fun to watch. Hate the Bucs because anyone who posts here does.

The North got real boring with Cutler going down, kinda putting a dent in that division's excitement because I agree on how boring the Packers have been. Perhaps I'm a homer but watching NE chase 16-0 was far more entertaining, I really don't think anyone cares about GB right now. Lions, again spot on, quickly went from that young exciting team that was fun to get behind because you felt sorry for them into a team of dickheads from the coach down.

The East, fuck I don't know how the fans of those teams even watch that shit. The Eagles are pathetic and have no idea how to compete, the Redskins aren't good enough to be in the NFL, the Giants are lead by the most boring star player in sports and have not a single exciting player on their roster. The Cowboys are just annoying because we're all tired of Jerruh, the stadium and Americuh's team. DeMarco Murray shows potential of being a real exciting player to watch, but that's about it.

I'm still trying to figure out this myth about Belichick/The Patriots being these great career redeemers.

Their whole thing has always been taking unknown rejects from the draft like Randall Gay or back ups like Mike Vrabel and plugging them in, not washed up stars. Yet on ESPN whenever a washed up has been is released, the entire network wanks on about how they should go to the Patriots where Belichick will turn them into All-Pro's.

The only two success stories I can think of are Corey Dillon (Who was coming off one injury ruined season) and Randy Moss - arguably the most dangerous weapon (when on form) the league has seen. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he was dogging it in Oakland and that he would've blown up out of spite no matter where in the league he ended up.

It is solely because Corey Dillon and Randy Moss played there for a few years and didn't do anything noticeably bad. That's it, that's the reason.
 
NE is a team with excellent coaching. Don't have to be the best athlete, simply do exactly as your instructed, play your ass off for 60 minutes whistle to whistle and you'll find yourself in spot to make plays all game long.

Does anyone else not see a connection between guys like DJax, Stevie Johnson, TO, Ochocinco and big play drops and stupid ideas in key situations? These guys are too busy thinking touchdown dance before they catch the ball.

These guys hurt their teams as often as they help and many of these teams would be better off without them.

NE's made a killing off selfless players who just work hard and do what the coaches say, those types of players clearly don't listen to coaches and it shows throughout their careers.

I'm in the same boat, been saying it for some time as well. I will still routinely watch all day Sunday. And compraed to Sat and college football, what is missing from the nfl is variety.

The NFL you are getting very small deviations on playcalls, sets, etc etc. It's just so boring on the offensive and defensive side. Aside from Brady spreading it out and all out passing teams like NE and GB, that's about as different as we get from most nfl teams.

Lost in the Tebow mania is John Fox. He needs to be given A TON of credit. He started the year with a gameplan and system, and basically threw all of what it out the window when Tebow entered.

Every week the guy has added a few wrinkles. NFL coaches are very stubborn and set in their ways, and this guy basically changed their whole offensive style on the fly, and is going with it. Very un-NFL, very different from adjustments most coaches would do, but it is very much welcomed and even needed in the NFL, variety that is. Yes they do run the ball an extreme amount, but they are runs you don't typically see at all in the NFL and it's basically their base offense now.
