The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. San Antonio was prepared to ship Tony Parker and the #29 pick to Portland in exchange for Andre Miller, Nicolas Batum and the #21 pick, but the trade died when the Spurs insisted that Richard Jefferson somehow be included in the deal. Other players would have been included in the trade to make salaries work. Talks have quieted for now, but they could pick back up tomorrow if one of the teams has a change of heart.
 
The Lakers and 76ers have held discussions involving a swap of Andre Iguodala for Lamar Odom, according to league sources.

The deal would save Philadelphia a significant amount of money, as Odom is entering the final season of his contract while Iguodala is owed a combined $44 million over the next three seasons.

The Lakers would have to include more salary in order for the deal to consummated.

I think there will be plenty of trades since besides the draft itself, trades are the only way teams will be able to improve their team perhaps until 2012.

Plus, teams want to prepare themselves in the event a hard cap is instituted.

I think it'll be like the NFL Draft...everyone thinks it'll go one way, but all you need is that one domino to fall and it'll be game on as everyone starts the mad rush...in the NFL, it was San Francisco taking Aldon Smith and Tennessee taking Jake Locker...where will it be in the NBA? I am guessing the 5th pick or something.

--Minnesota is telling people they will take Kanter...but it's believed to be a smoke screen to see if it drums up more trade offers. Belief is still leaning towards Derrick Williams @ #2.

--Most believe the Jazz are leaning towards Kanter if he's still on the board since they believe he'd be the best available talent on the board. They could use their second first round pick to look for a point guard.

--The Knicks are shopping Toney Douglas...perhaps with the 17 pick to move up. Who they may be targeting is anyone's guess. ((trading Douglas to move up and get Jimmer makes little sense since Douglas is one of the few guys on the roster who hustles on defense))

--It does sound like Kemba Walker will fall because it seems like Toronto is looking towards a 3 and unless Sacramento takes him, who knows where he'll land (perhaps NY if they can find a trade partner? just my own off the cuff thought)

--Chad Ford thinks Cleveland is leaning towards Tristan Thompson with the #4 pick assuming Kanter is gone.

--Magic, TWolves and Knicks have called Phoenix about Nash but have been told no. Apparently, the only way he's leaving via trade is if he requests one and he has not done so.

--Kawhi Leonard to Sacramento looks like a go, if he's available with the 7 pick.

--Lakers offered Odom to Minnesota for #2 but were declined. They wanted Williams. Minny wanted Bynum or Gasol, LA declined and talks ended.

This 3way trade could work :)

Atlanta gets: F Ryan Anderson and PG Andre Miller (non-guaranteed) and #21 pick
Orlando gets: F Josh Smith
Portland gets: PG Jameer Nelson

this is my thinking on the rumors Atlanta wants to get back in the first round and a mention that Miller/Anderson could make the money work on a Smith move

I blame that on Bill Self and not playing him. I realize they had a loaded team at Kansas but Selby shouldve been on the floor more.

Word is that Self tried to "hide" Selby so he wouldnt enter the draft this year and convince him to return to a less talented Kansas team this year.


Especially if Selby stays 2nd round like these mocks are suggesting, i wouldnt have any qualms as a GM taking a shot on him. I think at worst hes a SHannon Brown type player.
 
The way things are going, I think I'd take Williams and Knight. I don't think Knight is that much worse than Irving, if at all. He's one of the few guys I could see developing into a perennial All-Star from this class.
