NCAA Dynasty Update Thread

This season is tough, and I am missing Carroll so much with his ability to break open and pick up a ton of yards when needed.

As I posted earlier, my starting QB went out for the season so right now I am using only 1 QB and when he gets hurt, either a CB or WR comes in. The redshirts I have I just don't want them in this year. Lucky for me it happens maybe once every 2-3 weeks, so not huge.

My last game as against Ark St. and I was up at one point till my defence shit the bed and killed the game for me. A late INT ended it. Have two weeks left and sit with a 4-5 record. Going up against FAU next.

I will be testing the waters after this season.

FIU 14 - FAU 0

Just got a big shutout over my biggest rival from Florida Atlantic. I got the running game going again with Mallary picking up 118 yards, while my QB was sacked so many times, he lost 75 yards. Was insane how bad my line was playing and how I even got anything to go running wise.

I have been letting the CPU do my recruiting since I am only the OC, and so far they have done a good job getting a lot of 3* guys coming in. I guess it will all come down to who is offering what job at the end of the year.

Take on MTSU in the final game of the week before conference championship games.

I know what you mean with losing your QB at FIU. Don't you have Hammonds, though? He got really good in my dynasty with FIU. I had him and Isaiah Crowell who transferred after his freshman year at Georgia, and they made my offense get really good really fast. Now that they are gone, my quarterback is extremely inaccurate and slow and my running backs constantly get hurt. Luckily, I have a good recruiting class coming in, especially in the skill positions (QB #15, HB #6, WR #13).

Also, I'm in year 6 in my dynasty and decided to have some fun and change my offense to Oregon's playbook. I'm still getting used to things with it, but I will have a much faster team next year so I am looking forward to it. Right now, I am the #9 team in the country and playing #3 Maryland in the ACC Championship Game.

I started a USC dynasty because I suck and I know I won't win 14 games in a row. Nearly put up 60 on Syracuse and Minnesota, now in game 4 I'm getting smashed by Arizona State 35-0 at halftime.

Just ended my year with a 37-34 victory over MTSU.

Had another 510yrd throwing game, as my run game could not get anything going at all. He had moments, then would just get killed in the back field.

I'll do an end of season report in a moment, as I doubt I am making any bowl games.

My Freshman kicker won me another game, hitting a 49 yarder against Troy. I was close to getting blocked, and the ball bounced off the goal post, but luckily over it, so I won the game.

The college version of Friday Night Lights is happening right now. My star 97 overall ball so hard QB just broke his collar bone and is out for 11 weeks. Of course my QB's number was 6 too. We are playing #3 Texas and are up 14-13, this back up had better be the video game version of Matt Saracen. Now his back up who hasn't really played at all and is the exact opposite style of QB has to come in. I have just gone from an excellent aerial attack offense to do whatever we possibly can to get the first down offense.

Managed to get the win, 35-32, thanks to their kicker being absolutely terrible and some good clock management by myself. My backup did alright and did score a 65 yard td on an option which was nice. I'd rate him a half-Saracen because he did not throw a hail mary to win the game.


edit- I checked and Texas' kicker was a 49 overall. :lol:

Not really. When my star QB was in we rarely ran the ball but since he's out I've been running quite a bit more, we're actually alright as an option run team.

Just played Maryland in the ACC Championship Game. The first time we met, I lost 49-42, letting them score a touchdown with less than a minute left. It was an air it out game, and their offense is just rated a lot higher than mine, and they just made more plays. This game I won 16-3. Both quarterbacks struggled in this one. My QB was 12-26 for 131 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. He really isn't cut out for Oregon's spread option playbook but it is still really fun to run. I did a really good job of shutting down Maryland QB, holding him to 7-22 for 132 yards and 3 INTs. My halfback struggled in the first half but turned it on down the stretch and just kept getting first downs so I was able to run the clock down on my final drive. My defense played incredibly well the whole game and was definitely the reason I won. On the other hand, my offensive line was terrible and I had barely any time in the pocket all game. That definitely needs to be upgraded.

But now is not the time for that, because I am ACC Champs for the first time since joining the conference three years ago. ORANGE BOWL HERE I COME!

Edit: I'm facing Notre Dame.

Edit2: I won Coach of the Year and my DT won the Lombardi Award. He was the nation's leader in sacks, which surprisingly only took 12.5.

My crappy QB just went all Tim Tebow in the Orange Bowl against Notre Dame. He couldn't pass or run the ball the whole game, more because my offensive line was once again playing terribly than him not playing well. I'm down 14-6 in the fourth quarter, and he leads a pretty good drive and then hits my freshman slot receiver for a 40 yard touchdown (my receiver also set the school's single season touchdown record on that play, he's gonna be great in a couple years). So now I'm down 14-12 and need a two point conversion. I ran a speed option, which I almost always end up pitching because my QB is slow. I guess the defense picked up on this because they went straight for the pitch man, and my QB took it himself into the endzone, very Tebow-esque. Like any Tim Tebow game, I got a crucial stop from my defense. My QB led another solid drive down the field, and my kicker hit a 34 yard field goal with about a minute left to give me the win.

After the Duke win to open the season I had good thoughts, then I got steamed by the next three games and that just killed the season. A lot of the losses we were in the game until the 4th when my defence just shit the brick and put all the pressure on the offence to make it a shootout which resulted in a bunch of INT's and drop passes.[/size]

[size=-2]With Dalton going down in the second game, my SO Medlock had to step in and take over, and he did a fair decent job despite the fact my offensive line was like swiss cheese. It was hard to get anything going seeing him get hammered every single play, and with no back up available, he had to stay in and take shot after shot. If I do stick with FIU, Medlock will be my starter going forward as I think he earned the shot after this season.[/size]

Coleman was my obvious go to guy all year and he set school records for it because he was such an amazing guy and had all the right routes. Getting him back for another season would be great for the offence, as would the rest of the young guys.[/size]

So I am diving more into the coacing carousel which I didn't in year one where I actually go through and see who they hire. I never tried this before and probably messed myself last season by not doing it, but some interesting jobs opened up once I did this.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but basically you go to the 'Now Hiring" secting and to the next school hiring. You click A which starts the process of looking for a coach. When they find one, an option for another coach will open up and that gets placed in the Unexpected jobs. If I get selected, do I have to take the job?

I decided that I am going to stay one more year at FIU and end my contract and try and win the Sun Belt. While doing the coacing carousel I got an offer from USC to be their OC, but I didn't want to jump into a 5* school. When I did the coacing carousel, I had no offers in the 'unexpected jobs' which is what I am taking as where my offers will be as soon as I go into the game. The USC job came after I went through about 4-6 teams finding different coaches.

Is this the only way to get new jobs, or the first time I go into the CC should their be a list of jobs being offered to me?

QB Controversy :runaway:

In the first game of the new season, my starting QB, Justin Cooper, who is a 4-year starter but has never quite lived up to his potential, goes down with a broken wrist for 7 weeks. In comes the backup, Keith Craft, who is a redshirt junior, and he leads us to a tight victory with 4 big completions on 6 attempts off the bench. He starts the next two games and -- granted it was against two subpar teams in Virginia and Vanderbilt and both games were at home -- lit it up in ways Cooper has never been able to do.

In the past two games (minus the 4th quarters due to blowouts), he is 37-57 (64.9%) with 5 TDs and no interceptions.

As for ratings, Craft is only 1 OVR point behind but actually two points up in THP (94 to 92). Both have 99 THA, but Craft has a slight awareness edge (71-69) while Cooper has a 70-60 speed edge. The extra THP seems to make a difference. I'm tempted to just roll with Craft for the rest of the year and let him develop for his senior season. Only reason it sucks is because I have a stud freshman waiting in the wings as well and I didn't plan on Craft ending up this good. If I roll with this guy for the next freshman won't be able to start until his junior year.

Oh and also Cooper was 16 career TD passes away from the school record, but fuck that, he's not helping the team. When he comes back he can hold the clip board with his good wrist.

Update - Cooper is listed as questionable for week 9's game, and will probably be able to play by next week. However, Craft has done this in his absence:

183.4 rating, 76-123, 62% completion rate, 1333 yards, 12 TDs and 1 INT

I can't possibly bench Craft, can I? Looks like the 4th-year starter just got Wally Pipp'd.
