I didn't really know what I wanted to do with this team, so I had to try some things out. Our starting QB, Chris Rogers, was innacurate as fuck, but he could run. We had three really good RB's (90, 87, & 86 OVR), so I figured I could run some option. The receiving core was solid. Out backup QB, Brandon Hayden, was a solid passer. I decided I was gonna run a lot of option, and sprinkle in Hayden here and there. The option was very effective for us, but then Rogers got injured in the Notre Dame game. He ended up missing the rest of the season. This pretty much killed what I wanted to do with this team. Our star RB, Akeem Hunt, got injured the following week against Iowa. Our primary backup got injured at the beginning of season, so we had to go to Cottom. He was a huge back at 260lbs, but he only had 79 speed. He ended up having a very solid season. The Offensive Line played really well for the most part, except against PSU and OSU. They wrecked us. The defense was very shitty, which is why we lost most games. They gave up 38 PPG in conference play. We didn't have a high flying passing attack either, which makes it difficult to come back. The bright spot on the season is obviusly the Notre Dame win. They were ranked #7 in the country when we played them, but they ended up being the second best team in the country.

I wanted to run a 2-QB system, but that idea went out when Rogers got injured. Rogers was would miss guys that are open five yards in front of him. That's how bad of a passer he was. He was very good at running the ball though. That stats aren't gonna show that, because he got injured. Rogers did about what I expected. He didn't put up big time numbers, but he wasn't terrible either. He had good accuracy, which was a bright spot for us. If I stay at Purdue next season I plan on using the 2-QB system that I originally wanted to.

I was very pleased with the production we got out of our running game. Hunt would of made one of the All-B10 teams and also be a finalist for some awards if he didn't get injured. He almost had 1000 yards through six games. He was a complete back. Gentry got injured at the beginning if th season, and ended up missing the entire year. Cottom was a big psychical runner at 6'4", 262lbs, and 82 strength. He did a good job as the third RB. Dotson was the backup to Cottom. He'll be the guy next year, and I feel good about that.

I really liked how our receiving core played. They didn't get a lot of grabs, but that was because I ran the ball a lot. Not sure who is the best receiver on the team. Newby, Mostert, and Ruffin were very good for us. Neal, our TE was always reliable to pick up first downs. Pretty much the entire core is coming back next year, and I recruited WR's heavily, so this should be another very good core next year. If I stay at Purdue, I plan on passing it more next season.

LOOKING FORWARD
Unless there is an offer I can't pass up, I'm going to stay. We have both of our QB's returning. Four starting Offensive Linemen are returning. With the exception of one player, our entire receiving core is returning. We're losing our top 3 RB's, but I feel good about Dotson. If our defense can at least be average next season, I feel we could have a very good year.
