It's not as if they're asking YOU for money, or anyone else, they're dividing revenues they've earned between themselves, revenues they enjoy because they have a specialized skill or own an asset that 99% of the planet doesn't have.

I see it as the opposite actually. assholes like JJ that built a billion dollar stadium during an economic downturn need more money and are agianst revenue sharing with small market owners. there is no way you can blame the players on this, this is a huge money grab by the owners, sadly the fans are the ones who will suffer. I hope it comes out that the nfl owners have been planning this since they signed the last CBA. They already have been denied access to the 4 billion in tv money that they secured if there was a lock out.

Yeah, big market vs. small market, yet the players are getting the blame. It has nothing to do with them! I will never understand the hate and jealousy so many fans have for these guys.

And owners like Jerry Jones need to realize if the late Wellinington Mara thought like they did decades ago, the NFL wouldn't be where it is today.

but it isn't just game now is it? it is a bussiness, just ask that faggot deion sanders or his partner in crime jerry jones. the short version is this; the deal they had in pace before it was opted out gave the players about 300 million more in revenues than the owners were getting. the owner want to switch it so the players will get about 3.15 bil of revenues instead of the 4.8 they were getting. there is not one muther fucker here on vsn, or on the planet that would take what amounts to a 30% pay cut and then do 12% more work to boot. none of us. so stfu with this 'it's just a game and they're crying over billions' shit.

Its pretty interesting to read everyone's opinion on the lockout and how most people really seem to be missing the whole point of it.

Even though I hate yahoo they had an article posted in early september which gave a big run down on what both sides want and need:

I won't post the whole article here since its pretty long.

On one side of it the owners are "supposibly" losing money and lots of it. The packers who were the only team to basically open their books showed a 40% loss in revenue the season before last year. Add on to it Owners are now spending tons of money on stadiums themselves and not having tax payers help pay for them anymore is putting a lot of cost on the owner to keep everything afloat.

The players seem rather confused as the owners have said your not getting a pay cut... but you are.

There is the 18 game schedule which players oppose (as do I) and owners want.

Rookie caps (which imo need to be in place). I think there was something agreed to in principle before the PA dissolved itself.

Player benefits which is a huge issue on the PA side. I could see this being a sticky point.

There might be more but I haven't kept up on it long enough. Having the sport I loved the most go through a lockout 6 years ago all I can say is it sucks but needed to be done to get things fixed.

From all the reports though, don't you guys think that the players didn't ever intend to come to terms through the extension? The NFL Owners offered proposal after proposal, yet Smith and Co. remained firm and insisted on getting their way. To me, it seemed like this was headed for litigation far before this week and this was just to try and save face.

And with all these issues I try to apply it to any other industry that isn't NFL football. Things like financial transparency are important, but if any other union did this the owners/board would laugh in their faces. Splitting that pie is important, but what if the owners are right. They manage their money far better than most players, and could make that pie grow... And in the end the players are only worth what the owners are willing to pay.

That is, unless there was another league. I say let's start a movement to following the UFL or CFL and giving all our money to one of them.

Guys get cut based on perception of another human or a bad day. Theres plenty of dumb asses who can run around,catch and throw just as good or better than the present crop. and you wouldnt be able to tell the difference since the rules are so wussy and safety oriented now anyway.

Kyle Turley made my viewpoint way different on this whole situation. He called into Ferrall's show and explained that the argument now has turned into a greed thing between suits. The NFLPA suits vs. NFL suits. The people up in the NFLPA office are fighting for their money. There are people that work for the Players Association that are getting paid $800,000, more than like 20% of the players making them their money. It's hardly about safety now, the owners want the players to be safe, it's about the suits in the NFLPA getting paid by the owners. The players have to sit there with their thumbs up their asses while these people who they've never met negotiate their jobs. Most players don't even give a shit, they just want to play.

While I do agree with the league being way too wussy, you're being stupid.

There's no way my brother and his NFL cut friends could keep up with Jeff Saturday or Michael Oher. They're the "best of the rest", aka college football players that didn't make it, and my brother fucking sucks.

The players that are in the league are physical specimens and worked hard and deserve to be in the league. There aren't as many Vince Papale's in this world as the movies make it seem.
