NFL: The Show | GM D.Geezy's Cincinnati Bengals Franchise

Cincinnati outscores Browns 31-6 in the second half without throwing a single pass
That's nuts, I love it though....smash mouth football at it's finest....Spiller as it's already been said, has been just phenomenal for you....I smell league MVP, Madden loves receiving stats from backs and Spiller has been running and receiving with efficiency
head coach Mike Martz made an unprecedented second half adjustment: He abandoned the passing game.
I almost fell out of my cubicle chair when I read that....Martz abandoning the passing game????? no way lol.......

Like Rhude said that is crazy that you were able to shut them down and dominate in the second half like you did without throwing the football once! Spiller just went OFF. That 78 yard touchdown run must have been awesome!

You have a tough game coming up. Looks like the boat has been turned around in St. Louis, they could possibly give you some fits. You need this win, good luck man.

Wow, the Rams are 10-4? Should be a tough one.

Great 2nd Half to come back and win that game, though, especially with Pittsburgh losing.

It was great to get some cushion between us and Pittsburgh. I tell you what though, hopefully they keep losing because that is one team I would not want to see again.

Great game! Spiller...just wow....and the Steelers lost too! Where is spiller sitting in the MVP polls? Good luck next week!

Spiller is currently #3 behind Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

He needs to have a good showing to close out the year to win that award. He is close to breaking a few records though. Such as RB receptions, RB receiving yards, and RB yards from scrimmage.

Oakland 7-7
Minnesota 5-9
Detroit 3-11

WOW

.

Always interesting to see how things stack up a year or two down the line in Madden. Looks like the Lions are still the Lions though.

Nice win. Now you control your own destiny. Good luck winning the division!

Thanks man. it is always good to not have to rely on other teams.

Loving the 9-5 record from Cincy, now let's finish strong and win the division! :)

We've come a long way since the 2-14 stinker in year one. It's been fun.

Wow!! Monster game from Spiller. Way to right the ship. Good luck this week pushing for the playoffs

Thanks...Spiller is turning into the face of the franchise. Games like those are becoming the norm for him. Mike Martz has his new Marshall Faulk.

This is the new, wiser Martz. haha

Cleveland really struggled containing the ground game. It seemed like every run was being bust for 5+ yards at least. I wasn't going to stop running it until they showed they can stop it and that time never came. It was power running at its finest.

Update of the Rams game will be posted shortly, men. Stay tuned.

GRAHAM'S 43-YARD FIELD GOAL AS TIME EXPIRES LIFTS BENGALS TO 24-21 WIN OVER RAMS, AFC NORTH TITLE
Cincinnati blows 21-0 lead but march down the field in closing minute to win thrilling Christmas night contest | Cincy win plus Steelers loss to Cardinals gives Bengals first division title since 2005 | Heading into week 17, team still has outside shot at #2 seed, first round BYE

Santa Claus came on schedule for Cincinnati fans on Christmas Night as they saw their team defeat the St. Louis Rams 24-21 Sunday night in blistering cold Paul Brown Stadium, clinching the 2011 AFC North division title in the process. Bengals PK Shayne Graham kicked a 43-yard field goal with no time remaining to send Cincinnati to the playoffs for the first time since 2005. The team drove 52 yards on 6 plays in the game's final 1:14 to set up for the winning kick.

Cincinnati blew a 21-0 third quarter lead and were unable to hold off a furious comeback by St. Louis (10-5). Rams QB Marc Bulger caught fire in the fourth quarter, amassing over 200 passing yards in the game's final 15 minutes and throwing two touchdown passes. His 11-yard touchdown pass to WR Johnnie Lee Higgins with 1:14 to go made the score 21-19. Second year RB Evan Royster's plowed through three Bengals defenders on his way to the end zone to convert the ensuing two-point conversion attempt to tie the game at 21-21.

Bengals QB Carson Palmer, who threw an interception on the team's previous possession to set up the Rams for their game-tying score, would make amends on the Bengals' final drive. He went 5 of 5 on the game-winning possession, completing 3 passes to WR Chad Ochocinco and 2 to RB C.J. Spiller to set up for the game-winning field goal.

"That's the stuff champions are made out of and Carson told me before that drive that there is no way he was going allow this team to lose this game," said Bengals head coach Mike Martz, who was coaching against his former team.

"He made the mistake late in the game of throwing the interception but he came right back and did what he had to do to put us in position to close things out.

Cincinnati was able to jump out to a big lead behind a two touchdown performance by back-up RB Bernard Scott. Scott caught a 10-yard first quarter touchdown pass on the game's opening possession while subbing for a fatigued Spiller. His 32-yard third quarter touchdown scamper made the score 21-0 with 9:18 to go in the period.

CB Leon Hall also had stellar performance, grabbing two interceptions for the second consecutive week to give him a total of five on the season. Hall, who was moved back to his familiar left cornerback spot last week after playing right cornerback all season long, picked off Bulger and returned it for a 54-yard touchdown in the second quarter that made the score 14-0 with 1:48 to go before halftime.

"We flip-flopped Hall and Joe (Haden) last week and it paid dividends immediately," said Bengals defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

"Last year, this was the alignment that we played but we decided to do things differently this year. We went back to what worked last season and it is working out well for is."

On that Rams' ensuing possession following Hall's late second quarter score, Bulger went out of the game with a minor hand injury after driving his team deep into Bengals territory in the first half's final seconds. Back-up QB Luke McCown came in to run the remainder of the team's two minute offense but was picked off by Hall at the Bengals 5-yard line with 0:33 remaining on third down, halting a scoring opportunity just before the break.

"That was a critical sequence in the game and looking back, it was probably the biggest turn of events in the game altogether," said Martz.

"Between Hall's touchdown and his interception to stop their last drive of the half, you're probably looking at about at least a 14-point swing there if not more."

As stated before, Cincinnati (10-5) has clinched the AFC North title by virtue of Pittsburgh's 29-17 loss to Arizona earlier in the day and they will host at least one playoff game in January. The team can still obtain a first round BYE with a win next week along with some help.

The Bengals will travel to face Baltimore (7-8) next week on New Year's Day. The Ravens still have an outside chance to get into the playoffs but need a lot of help. QB Joe Flacco will be making his return after missing most of the season with a back injury, which has keeped him out since week 5. Cincinnati fell to Baltimore 49-38 in week 13 when Ravens back-up QB Tim Tebow thew for 268 yards and three touchdowns. The game saw the Ravens score 22 points within the contest's final 4:16.

Great F'n win! Love the way Palmer kept his head after the Rams rallied to tie the game......real easy right there to get deflated after losing a big lead....relatively quiet game from Spiller but Scott came up big on his only two carries.....congrats on winning the division!

Clutch win against STL and congrats on the AFC North title. A huge step from when you started this 'chise.

Bengals | Spiller records in reach
Tue, 27 Dec 2011 10:07:49 -0700
Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that going into their week 17 game at Baltimore, Bengals RB C.J. Spiller's prolific sophomore campaign has him close to eclipsing multiple NFL single season records. Spiller currently has 1,318 rushing yards (3rd in the NFL) and 7 rushing touchdowns on 265 carries. He also currently has 94 receptions (2nd in the NFL) for 1,079 yards (6th in the NFL) and 9 receiving touchdowns. Spiller broke former Rams RB Marshall Faulk's record set in 1999 for running back receiving yards in a single season (1,048), ironically during the team's week 16 contest versus St. Louis. Spiller is just 32 yards away from breaking Faulk's record for most yards from scrimmage in a single season (2,429), also set in 1999. Lastly, Spiller needs just 7 receptions to surpass former Cardinals FB Larry Centers' record of receptions for a running back (101 catches in 1995).

AFC North Champions!!! Great win man...this team sure has come a long way. The team as a whole really seems to be hitting stride and looks poised to make a deep run into the playoffs. It was nice to see Scott contribute, he has been quiet for a long time. Good luck against the Ravens and then playoffs!

What a win man, congrats to Palmer for stepping it up on the last drive! Also have to thank the Arizona Cardinals for dropping the Steelers to help you out! Hall really had a good game, two picks, one for a touchdown is nice! Keep up the good work dude, good luck against Baltimore..take them out!

Congrats on the last two victories. I would've checked in earlier, but, I have been busy as of late.

Anyway, what impressed me most was the second-half against Cleveland where you just pounded the football. Absolutely no runs and a 15-play drive that lasted 9:26!?!?!? Crazy stuff!

Now that you have won the North and are in the playoffs, is it play to win and maybe snag the #2 seed or is it time to let loose and let some guys pad the stats?

Spiller is the offense. He is the central cog in your system and the guy has to be a legitimate MVP candidate. Going for 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving is pretty damn impressive.

Man, talk about a choke job. I am surprised I was able to drive down the field to get that last 3 points. I admittedly started playing scared and it almost cost me dearly.

That's why Graham makes the big bucks. Awesome win. Good games out of Ochocinco, Rivers and Hall

Yep...Graham may have earned himself one more contract with his performance this season - Clutch

Clutch win against STL and congrats on the AFC North title. A huge step from when you started this 'chise.

Thanks man. We have certainly come a long way

Great win to clinch the division! Good luck setting those records with Spiller.

I probably won't actively seek any of them except the yards from scrimmage one. I won't force him the ball for the receptions record. If it happens during the normal flow of the game, fine. I'd like to minimize his touches in this last game.

Fantastic win against St. Louis to clinch the division. Now it's time to make a run to the Super Bowl ... and hopefully win it. :)

One game at a time, my friend. The road to the Super Bowl will be a tough one.

Love how we're playing but still don't think the defense is where it needs to be. Perhaps we'll pull an '06 Colts and get it together on D in the playoffs.

Nice job on clinching the divison

Thanks!

This chise is NASTY, bro!

Appreciate it!

great work man, your team continues to improve, goog to see ocho getting a few more receptions.

Yeah he is one guy that I needed to get more involved. Ocho is the man.

Arizona had revenge on their minds. They dropped two Super Bowls back to back to Pittsburgh (1 in real life, 1 in this franchise). That was clutch and makes this last game a lot less pressure-packed.

Congrats on the last two victories. I would've checked in earlier, but, I have been busy as of late.

We still have a decent shot at the #2 seed. We need a Tennessee loss to the Colts and a Chargers loss to the Packers. And of course, we have to handle our business.

Spiller is close to winning the MVP but I think Brady gets it.

With under two minutes remaining in the game, up 36-30 and trying to run out the clock, the Bengals faced a 3rd and 7 from their own 28-yard line. Ravens OLB Terrell Suggs shot through for an easy sack and caused Bengals QB Carson Palmer to fumble the football. The pigskin was then scooped up by Ravens SS Chris Horton and returned 25 yards for the go-ahead touchdown, making the score 37-36 with 1:48 remaining.

ANOTHER LATE MELTDOWN VERSUS BALTIMORE COSTS BENGALS FIRST ROUND BYE
QB Palmer's second half errors doom Cincinnati in 40-36 loss in regular season finale | Horton's late fumble return for a touchdown provides Baltimore's game-winning points | Bengals to host Peyton Manning and the Colts next week in AFC Wildcard Game

The Cincinnati Bengals missed a golden opportunity to earn a first round BYE in the AFC Playoffs falling to the Baltimore Ravens 40-36 Sunday in freezing and rainy Baltimore. Ravens SS Chris Horton's 25-yard fumble return for a touchdown off a Carson Palmer sack gave the Ravens a 37-36 lead with under two minutes to play after trailing 36-23 earlier in the fourth quarter. Horton's interception of Palmer early on the Bengals' ensuing possession halted Cincinnati's desperation attempt to win the game with a last second field goal. Palmer finished 22 of 44 for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns, but his 3 interceptions and lost fumble doomed the Bengals.

Sunday's game was almost a direct replica of the two teams' meeting four weeks ago, when the Ravens scored 22 unanswered points in the game's final 4:16 to beat the Bengals 49-38.

Cincinnati was seemingly in control for much of the game and were up 19-7 at halftime, holding a 43 to 15 advantage in number of plays run through two quarters. But a quick touchdown pass from Ravens QB Joe Flacco to WR Steve Breaston on the first possession of the second half made the score 19-14. On the Bengals next drive, Ravens all-world FS Ed Reed intercepted Palmer and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown to give the Ravens their first lead of the game at 20-19 following a missed two point conversion.

"With the rain, we had problems with footing throughout the game and on that play by Reed, Palmer slipped on his drop back," said Bengals offensive coordinator Henry Ellard.

"Our wide receivers had trouble holding onto the ball and we also had a guy slip (WR Kevin Curtis) that cost us a touchdown in the fourth quarter and resulted in us having to kick a field goal. We have to figure out how to play better in these conditions because there is a strong possibility that we'll have to play in bad weather again down the road."

Flacco, playing in his first game since a week 5 injury, finished the game 18 of 27 for 293 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

The Bengals would have one last opportunity to try to win the game, but Palmer's hail mary pass just short of the goal line was batted down by Reed to preserve the Ravens' victory.

The loss for Cincinnati cost them the opportunity to have next week off by virtue of losses by both the Titans (11-5) and Chargers (10-6). Tennessee fell to the Colts 45-23 and the Chargers lost to Green Bay 26-7, giving the Bengals a shot at the #2 seed. Instead the team will host Indianapolis next week at Paul Brown Stadium on Wildcard Weekend.

"We're obviously terribly disappointed with today's outcome but we have no time to feel sorry for ourselves," said Bengals head coach Mike Martz.

"All we can do is look to correct the mistakes from this week and move on and get ready for a great Indy team."

The game marks a rematch of the two teams' week 8 match-up which saw the Colts defeat the Bengals 29-23 behind RB Donald Brown's monster 134 yard, 2 touchdown performance. The Bengals had an opportunity to win the game at the end, but Palmer was intercepted in the closing seconds by Colts OLB Justin Durant in Indianapolis territory to preserve the Colts' victory. The team held Colts QB Peyton Manning in check, holding him to just 169 passing yards and 1 touchdown, but Brown's big day and 4 turnovers were too much for the team to overcome.

Notes: Bengals RB C.J. Spiller broke former Ram RB Marshall Faulk's record set in 1999 for yards from scrimmage (2,429 yards), non-coincindentally under then-offensive coordinator of the Rams, Mike Martz. Spiller, who missed parts of Sunday's game due to a foot injury that had him in and out of the lineup, finished with 30 rushing yards and 80 receiving yards giving him 2,507 yards for the year, 78 more yards than Faulk had during the Rams' Super Bowl championship run.
