The fact that I am taking Romo's side of this is making me physically I'll. But your argument is so absurd that I have to point a couple things out.

1. He has a career completion PCT of 64.1 which is 6th among active QB (higher than Freeman, Ryan, or Bradford), and he leads all active QB's with a career 7.35 Yds per pass attempt. How can his accuracy be questioned?

2. Show me where Romo's arm strength was brough into question. Plus, it's a very overrated QB skill.

3. Name me one instance where Bradford, Matty Ice, or Freeman showed a level of "mental toughness" that Romo has yet to hit.

4. Those three have upside, but if you are rating them right now, they are not at Romo's level.

So much wrong with this.

Where to even start.

1. Quarterback comebacks and game winning drives is an incredibly misleading stat. it doesn't tell you what the QB did on the drive. Something, nothing, anything?

It is also calculated about 10 different ways by 10 different places. On top of that Romo has played on some damn good teams where they were trailing or behind in the 4th.

Romo getting penalized for not having as many 4th qtr comebacks because his teams have generally been ahead is a bit ass backward of what you are trying to prove. Romo has won 64% of his games as a starter so it's not like he isn't winning football games.

Rather than quoting some obscure and debatable stat I'd rather hear of specific instances etc of where Romo choked on it late in games.


2. Your last paragraph makes no sense for the simple reason that you aren't really evaluating the QB on his own now but evaluating the QB in the context of what "turmoil" the team is going through. in a vacuum would I take Romo over Bradford? Yes. Over Freeman? Maybe. Over Ryan? No.

Citing a new HC and OC to work with(which he won't be since Garrett is becoming the HC and the offense will stay the same) doesn't really tell you Romo is any worse or better than the other QB's and isn't a reason to rank him higher or lower.

I thought these lists were based on "talent" more so who has the most stable situation to come back to.

The stat for 4th Qtr comebacks is misleading because it doesn't tell you if the guy blew it in the situation. It just tells if the team won the game. Is Romo 10 wins for 30 losses in that sitiation? Or 10 wins for 11 losses? 10-15? Etc. Do the parameters for the stat make any sense? The simple stating of "QB X has 10 4th Qtr comebacks or game winning drives" doesn't really tell you the full context of the stat, the situation, his team, or his generally abilities in such situations.

A guy over at PFR.com had a great 2-3 part series on game winng drives and comeback's. If you havent checked it out I would do so.

Of Matt Ryan's 13 GWD's nearly half of them (6) came in games where Ryan had QB ratings below 70. 57.5, 49.8, 68.4, 69.7, 67.3, 62.8.

Of Romo's 10. He only had (3) with ratings below 70. 58.1, 49.9, 69.7.

Like I alluded to. It's a neat stat to look at and discuss but it has to be kept in context as well.

I simply posted that stat in the context of the dicussion with misleading stats and how Romo has been playing for some pretty damn good teams in general. Not as some end all be all point.

2007, the defense let the team down. They allowed Eli and company to march and score a touchdown with something like a minute left in the half. Completely took all momentum Dallas had.

2009, Romo led the Cowboys to a convincing victory over the Eagles. Then NOBODY showed up against the Vikings and you can't pin that on just Romo. So he finally gets a playoff win in 2009 after 2 fails in 2006 and 2007 and you don't think he hasn't gotten over the past failures?

There are other things that happened in 2006 and 2007 that put the team in a tough spot but you can put the blame on Romo if you want.
