There's a whole lot of people to point fingers at as the Jags are looking toward rebuilding this season...

You can't really keep bums like Reggie and Matt around if the perception of the receiving core is STILL shit.

Also, the defense fell apart as they just kept letting name guys go.

...this year's going to be a rough one if Jacksonville can't even make 8-8...especially for Del Rio.

From what I saw, this season may get ugly in a hurry... it's still preseason, so I can hold out hope that the team is just ironing things out and will do better by opening day BUT there are a lot of things that worry me.

One: The QB situation past Garrard frightens me. Blame Todd Bouman (why was he signed again?) and his propensity for throwing the ball very far in no particular direction.

Two: For most of the time on the field, it looked like no one on the field knew how to tackle... I get that hitting a live, moving target is a hell of a lot harder than hitting a tackling dummy; That doesn't mean that the team should have forgotten how to do so after signing their contracts this season.

Three: Is this it for Del Rio? :dontknow:

On another subject: Although it's the preseason, I'm getting a little angry that there isn't a tick in the win column for Jax yet.

0-3, no matter how close the games are, still stinks... good thing there's a supposed trade in the works for Tyler Thigpen (I know he played for the Chiefs, but he did well enough to keep his job before Cassel showed up... and he's better than Bouman.).

Jaguars bring back Wilford

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed Ernest Wilford, giving him a chance to make the roster as a tight end.

Wilford, a fourth-round draft pick by the Jaguars in 2004, left Jacksonville after four seasons and signed a lucrative deal with Miami.

The Dolphins, who gave him $6 million guaranteed, terminated his contract Monday, Miami’s biggest free-agent bust in the Bill Parcells regime.

Wilford caught just three passes for 25 yards last season. He moved from receiver to tight end this year and had a 33-yard touchdown reception against Jacksonville’s reserves in the preseason opener. He had no catches in the second preseason game.

Jacksonville’s fifth-round draft pick, tight end Zach Miller, missed practice last week with a knee injury.

i like the signing, well just from a personal standpoint.. he brought hype to the team...
but as tightend? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

1st, with the preseason game on Thursday our starters did a great job against the Eagles, especially our 1st team defense against their 1st team offense, we held them to 6 points in the first half and looked really sharp. So, yeah it was a loss, but the way I look at it is our first team played better than the Eagles, so I think it was a win.
Second off, I'll take Thigpen as our backup, I can't imagine what would happen if David Garrard went down for serious time. Thigpen could atleast be a decent starter like Quinn Gray was, Bouman really isn't that guy.

The Jaguars released OT Tony Pashos, a league source told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, because he wouldn’t agree to a pay cut.

Pashos was scheduled to make $4.3 million this season, and that could be an issue for a team that’s facing the prospect of TV blackouts. Also, the Jaguars spent their first two draft picks on OTs Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton and signed veteran OT Tra Thomas, pushing Pashos inside to guard.



The Jaguars are shopping DB Brian Williams ahead of the 6 p.m. ET roster cutdown deadline, a league source told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, and he could become a salary-cap casualty if he isn’t traded.

Williams, an eighth-year veteran who played some safety, but mostly cornerback, is due to earn $4 million this season, $5 million next season and $6 million in 2011.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released 21 players this evening and placed defensive lineman Rob Meier (pictured) on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Included in the cuts were ten veterans: Tight end Richard Angulo, safety Marlon McCree, running back Alvin Pearman, offensive lineman Tony Pashos, linebacker Tim Shaw, running back Chauncey Washington, punter Steve Weatherford, defensive back Brian Williams, linebacker Thomas Williams and long snapper Joe Zelenka.

Also waived was seventh-round wide receiver Tiquan Underwood and ten other first-year players: Quarterback Todd Boeckman, fullback Brock Bolen, safety Michael Desormeaux, cornerback Pete Ittersagen, defensive end Jeremy Navarre, center Cecil Newton, wide receiver Todd Peterson, guard Cameron Stephenson running back Josh Vaughan and linebacker Johnny Williams.

In all, eight of this year’s nine draft choices are on the current 53-man roster. Two undrafted rookies made the opening day roster in linebacker Russell Allen and defensive end Julius Williams.

The Jaguars’ roster now stands at 53 players and the team will be able to sign eight players to their practice squad after 12:00 noon Sunday. Of the 53 players, 30 were drafted by Jacksonville including 26 from 2003 through 2008.

The Jaguars this evening completed a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for quarterback Luke McCown. The trade is for an undisclosed draft pick, and is contingent upon McCown passing a physical examination.

McCown, 6-3 and 217 pounds, is entering his sixth season in the NFL. The 28-year-old former Louisiana Tech quarterback has been with Tampa Bay for the past four seasons. He has played in 12 career games with seven starts.

Well kind of scary putting two rookies on our starting defense with Terrance Knighton and Derek Cox, but Jack and Gene have to see something they like. Another thing is, where is Tra Thomas playing now that Eben Britton and Eugene Monroe are the starting tackles?

Played 7 seasons with Atlanta before joining San Diego in 2008. All starts have been at RG. Russell has made 94 starts in 108 games. 19 career interceptions. Spent time with Minn., Cle. and Sea. Made 32 starts for Sea. last 2 yrs. Russell will wear No. 26 and Forney #65.
