First Home game is a Black Out

The Jaguars will host the defending NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in the team’s home opener at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and the game will air live on WOKV AM & FM (690, 106.5) and the Jaguars Radio Network. Because it is not sold out the game will be blacked out in the Jacksonville area.

The Jaguars main ticket office, located on the West side of the stadium, will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game day ticket office located between gates 2 and 3 will open at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Fans can purchase tickets by calling (904) 633-2000 or 1.877.4.JAGS.TIX (option 3) or by visiting jaguars.com. By purchasing single game tickets online prior to game day fans will save up to 10% on the price of tickets, and by selecting the TicketFast delivery option, the tickets will be delivered straight to their e-mail inbox – eliminating any need to wait in line.

For fans traveling to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium for the game, the JTA Stadium Shuttle Service returns for the 2009 season with no price increase. The shuttles will be operating two hours before kickoff until one hour after the end of the game. For more information fans can call (904) 630-3100. All park-and-ride locations will be open for the regular season games.

This season the Jaguars have implemented a text messaging system which allows fans to report violations of the fan code of conduct. Fans can text “Assist” followed by the location and brief description of the issue to 58154, and the guest services team will respond as necessary to the situation.

Fans are reminded that a modified security pat-down will again be conducted at all entry gates at Jaguars home games. This will be a quick process, but all fans are strongly encouraged to make plans to arrive at the stadium a little early because of this security measure.

Other security measures are no different than they have been for the Jaguars’ last four seasons. Purses or bags no larger than 12x12x12 inches are allowed, but they will be subject to inspection. All objects and purses will be subject to visual and physical inspection prior to entry into the stadium.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Following a model once used in Green Bay and now seen in Buffalo, the Jacksonville Jaguars are considering playing home games elsewhere. Owner Wayne Weaver said Wednesday that the Jaguars would consider playing in Orlando if the NFL expands its regular season to 17 or 18 games. "We know that we can't be a viable NFL city if we only sell 46,000 seats in a 66,000-seat stadium," Weaver said. The Jaguars (1-2) have struggled to sell tickets in recent years and are looking for ways to boost attendance in a difficult economy. About 17,000 season-ticket holders decided not to renew in 2009, and the Jaguars had less than 40,000 for their home opener. With the NFL closing monitoring the franchise's ticket woes, Weaver is looking for ways to keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Orlando could be key.

First move should be to have training camp moved to Orlando...or, at least, outside Jacksonville but still somewhere in the extended market for the team to drum up visibility. This franchise still deals with having to split allegiances between the Falcons, Dolphins and Bucs...they have to get some of those people on board to make this last.

Well this season is something better than I expected... if we don't make the playoffs I won't be heartbroken because we'll likely finish with a winning record.

Only thing that bothers me is that we essentially don't have a first round pick. All signs look like we're taking Tebow in the first round and to me it will be a waste. I mean we'll sell a shit load of tickets but the only way he'll help us is in the wildcat or he'll have to learn a whole new position.

But on the flipside... what if he turns out to be a superstar in the NFL... only time will tell.
