Time for the RBs I guess.
RB
I have really high hopes Cierre Wood. I always thought he will be one of the better RBs ND has had in recent memory. And with 3 years of eligibility left he still has plenty of time to get there. With that said I really thought Wood would be a special back but after watching him, I don't think I see that. He is a solid back and will probably get to the 1000 yard mark this year, but I don't think he is an elite level running back like Lattimore, Dyer, James, Richardson, etc. He has the speed, but I am not sure about much else with him. I don't think he is that durable, I don't think he has great vision, or shiftiness, break tackle ability, and his ability to hold onto the ball. Will he be a solid college running back, definitely. Will he be that player we look back on and are like "wow he was really something", probably not. I am positive he will be a productive back, but based on just his natural ability he has shown right now, I don't think he is elite like I expected him to be as the 5 star from Cali. Which is fine because we really don't have much else going on at RB right now. I have no faith in Jonas Gray. Like Hughes, I think it just took him too long to "get it". Instead of Wood being the feature back, it would be much nicer if Gray was the power inside runner and Wood could handle the outside runs. We really haven't seen much from Gray besides some spring game action, and too be honest I have never been impressed with what he brings.
On the back end of the depth chart, much like QB, I really hope GA and McDaniel see limited time this year. They are both too small and probably shouldn't be playing the RB position at the top level of college football. I think both end up at WR at the end of their careers here, especially if we pull some 5 stars this year which seems like a certainty at this point. Plus Cam Roberson will be back next year and the depth will be there.
