I downloaded the Rugby World Cup Demo. There is no franchise mode, no season, no career. Just the tournament, and an online mode.
The games alright. The demo is 5 minutes and you only get to play a half (not even a full match) with 2 teams. There's one camera angle, and it's a broadcast came zoomed way back.
Eh, whatever. Game is still alright. I go to buy the full version...
50 fucking dollars. It has almost no replay-ability and it's pretty low quality visually. It is almost a carbon copy of the Rugby '08 game for the PS2, with fewer modes, but pretty much the same game play and some token graphical upgrades.
Unreal. I did some googling and found a better game (for $55) and bought that instead. I'm just amazed at such an absurd price for what is basically an arcade-quality game. This is a $15 dollar game, maybe 20. Its a download so it has no resale value. I figured I would get 10 hours out of it (play the World cup 2 or 3 times, get bored, and never touch it again).
Anybody who thinks STEAM is going to come to consoles next gen and drastically reduce the price of games better think again. The people who price these games out are insane.
