Not really shocking news, but Sony confirmed it was hackers.

An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. Yes they did. The group "Anonymous" has also denied having any involvement. But they are hackers so you can trust them only as far as you can throw them.

It's also been mentioned that a problem with some Amazon servers overseas have something to do with this now as well.

That's actually true. I was listening to GiantBomb's radio show yesterday on jtv, and they had one of their network guys talking about it.

You missed the point, they were saying most of their users use the free service so they can't really complain. If it were xbox live where you pay anywhere fromn $5 to $8 depending on what type of subscription you bought people would have vaild complaints. Same can be said about Ps+ users now. I think people now realize that being extremely limited on what you can do with live pays off now seeing PSN being down all the time.

While I agree that you have to expect occasional outages on PSN since it's free, Sony really needs to hunker down and do everything they can to prevent these outside attacks. I'm hoping this is why they're taking a while to get the network back online and running. It's obvious now that these hackers aren't going to stop and PSN is vulnerable to attack.
