I got XCOM as a part of the Bioshock Infitinite preorder bonus. In one week, I poured 42 hours into XCOM. I still haven't played Bioshock.

I'm not excited. I actually played through Matt Hazard not long after it released and had fun with it. I'm jjust curious because why in the hell would they be porting it to Vita? It sold like shit and came out ages ago? Epic Mickey also came out a bit ago. And I hadn't heard any word of that being ported to Vita either.

not part of PS+ update but it's dropping this week, as well as Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazar, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Storm & Jax & Daxter Collection. PSBlog.com wrote it would be released this week, I don't find them giving out bad information. The Giana Sisters looks nice...this review is from 4 months ago.

it was on PSBlog.com and everyone wondered (in comments) why they would release it on Vita and worse charge ~$35 (I believe) for it.

A new firmware update for the PS3 is live, but a significant number of reports indicate it's locking users out of their systems. Posters on the official PS3 Support forum noted they couldn't boot their systems after the update, and some users said restoring file systems didn't resolve the issue.

According to the PlayStation Twitter account, the 4.45 update includes trophy notification options and improves system stability - hmm.

We've reached out to Sony to clarify the situation. While the issues don't seem to be affecting all users, it might be wise to stay clear of the update for the time being.

As of now, this seems to be affecting those with 500 Gigs and Up, as well as those who put in bigger HDD drives into their systems.

Sony's aware of this bullshit and for now, your only solution is to not update and/or stay offline just in-case you have your system set to auto-update via PS+.

Basic problem description:

I get a blackscreen and also stuck at the ribbon when the system first starts up... I cannot get to the XMB and the system just hangs. This is apparently happening to people who have a 750GB Hard Drive in their System or a 1TB. (People who have upgraded their hard drive through their own means) I have a 1TB hard drive in mine.

Quick rundown:

No confirmation of if this is only affecting PS3s containing hard drives at or over 500GB in capacity. In fact there are reports that PS3s containing hard drives of lower capacities may also be affected.
Fat or slim model doesn't seem to be a factor, both models have been reported to be affected by the glitch.
Do NOT format your hard drive if you are affected by the glitch, as there may still be a chance of restoring your PS3 to proper functionality without doing so.
If you still possess your original PS3 hard drive and reinstall it in an attempt to restore your PS3's functionality, do NOT download the firmware update again, otherwise you may simply render it dysfunctional as well.
If you have PS+ and have automatic updates enabled, disable them ASAP. The option to do this should be found under System Settings.

I sincerely hope this helps out anyone trying to get up to speed on the situation and any affected by this glitch.

Edit: Thanks for mentioning that D-Monstrosity! Updated this post (4th bullet point) with that advice.

Update: The firmware update v4.45 has reportedly been pulled (making v4.41 the current up to date firmware version), likely as a result of this glitch.

IF YOU HAVE A BRICKED SYSTEM; POSSIBLE SOLUTION

For those with bricked systems Tomorrow a patch should come out to fix this. All you need to do is download it to your USB drive and power up the PS3 in safe mode and install update from USB.

Knowing my luck my console auto downloaded the update before it was pulled (even though it's set to do them from 8-10 am) and I will have to go through all that hassle to fix it. So looking forward to it.
