PSU Penalties: $60 Mil Fine, 4-Year Bowl Ban, 40 Schollies Over 4 Years, Wins Vacated

I really don't get the "everyone that they're punishing had nothing to do with it" argument. So, should the NCAA use that rational and move along as if nothing happened? I don't get that line of thinking. I don't agree with killing an entire season and I doubt that will happen. I see some bowl bans, some lose of schollies, etc. The community of PSU will have to deal with it, but football will still be played, tickets can still be sold and businesses can still profit off of fans going to the games. If businesses suffer than fans obviously weren't as loyal as they thought.

It is unfortunate the actions of a few can influence the lives of many, but as is life and life goes on.

It might be worse than that. I think Penn State is getting hit with everything except, one year of football. With the penalties coming down. I feel like I'll be wishing for the death penalty.

The NCAA just announced that the punishment is $60M in fines for Penn State, a 4 year bowl ban, loss of 60 scholarships over 4 years and that they are vacating all of Paterno's wins between 1998-2011.

What a fucking joke.

Yes and it means there will forever be an asterisk there because he actually isn't the all time wins leader. It's asinine to vacate that many wins because those games still happened.

Any NCAA penalty ever punishes players that had nothing to do with the issue. Yawn.

At least it it only hurts the innocent marginally. I thought it would be way worse. Still we won't be competitive for 5-8 years. AS a Penn State fan its an ok penalty.

Players can also transfer without having to sit out a year, and that player won't count towards the scholarship limit of the new school.

And, the current kids have the ability to transfer immediately if they so choose to any school that will have them and play immediately. I wonder who will take advantage of it?
