If he was recruited by Penn State he will have the option to go else where.

Loss of scholarships is the biggest penalty they received. Coaches care more about schollies than bowl games.

I have no problem with bowl ban. The amount of players that they are going to lose won't make a bowl anyway.
 
some of you people make me sick...crying about the players who are innocent. those players can transfer today without penalty. not one of you seems to give a shit about the innocent children who were raped. this penalty is a joke. vacating wins...60 million in fines...PSU is laughing at this. who cares about games that were already played. nobody cares about wins and losses after the fact. 60 million in fines....to a major university like this, thats chump change. they will receive 100 mil in donations just to cover this. 10 scholarships a year....wow...serious....so that means they can only give out 60 scholarships now. I guess those kickers, punters and long snappers will have to sign elsewhere. 4 bowl bans.....yeah, im certain this will be tough on them, NOT....so now they miss out on the glory of going to the whatever the fuck this bowl is sponsored by bowl game....BFD

This punishment is about saving face in the eyes of the public. its about the NCAA getting some face time and now setting a precedent to over step their bounds in the future and gain more power than they should have. Its also about Penn St, who agreed to this and was part of the process, to get a punishment and closure in the public eye. They know they have the civil matters to deal with, but in 2 years when that all starts up, nobody will care.

I agree with you. It's why I have no issues with the scholarships being taken away for a while. The bowl ban part to me is too strict, because even though you say players can relocate to any school, realistically not every one can. This is all moot anyway, since there's no way this team will compete for a while.

I was a little confused on your point honestly sorry. Yes all the media is talking about is the wins and records which honestly isn't a punishment that does much.

According to ESPN, a player can simply stay at Penn State on scholarship and not have to play football if he doesn't want to. So players have the ability to transfer and play, stay and not play, stay and play, or just drop out all together. This went very far to ensure players got a fair deal for once.

That is true but, not as severe as this situation. Also Penn state is a community, some guys don't want to leave especially seniors. When were talking about the sophmores and freshman its the same deal some want to stay because they love their school. Thats the problem, this school isn't USC where anyone would jump in a heart beat.

Bowl ban for 4 years, that sucks for players but it is one game for the whole season.

So much for "unprecedented penalties" that would of had the Penn State community wishing for the death penalty instead.....
