In life, there are times you will be insulted or offended. Some things will insult or offend you that do not insult or offend others.

What is happening here with Redskins, is small vocal minorities have been telling us that the word is offensive to them, and now some soft minded people like you are starting to buy into it because in the new culture of EVERYTHING IS OFFENSIVE, SOMEBODY IS OFFENDED, that's how we think we're supposed to react. Ten years ago, five years ago, two years ago, you very likely didn't think it was offensive. Not because you were ignorant, but because it simply wasn't. And still isn't.

Everything is offensive to somebody. Sometimes in life, you have to fucking deal with it. Just because you guys think it's not racist doesn't mean that there aren't people that are deeply offended by it, and doesn't negate the fact that they need to change the fucking name because the controversy serves little purpose except to keep people talking about the NFL in the dead of the offseason. I disagree that the NFL is the appropriate forum for a stand against political correctness. It's supposed to be about the sport. Not some pseudo right wing or generational gap stand against a changing world that increasingly finds the use of this name bullshit. The country is growing very tired of insensitivity and it's not okay to be a douchebag for douchebaggery's sake anymore. This is only going to gain more and more momentum. You sound bitter, old, and out of touch with the reality that the people who are going to run this country in 10 to 20 years aren't gonna give a shit about the tyranny of tradition.

It would be great to talk about the offensive schemes that Jay Gruden might bring or the offseason acquisitions, but instead, due to Dan Snyder's stubborness on the issue, this is what we get. Why should people stay quiet about something they find racist? to protect the logo on a helmet? No, if something that is obviously racist to a lot of people then bullshit is gonna get called, and it's not going away, unlike the team name, which the NFL is not going to have a choice on.

The point it that the debate goes FAR beyond sports teams. It's a product of our pussified society where everyone feels their opinion is the only valid one and hurt feelings equal a lawsuit.

It certainly isn't racist having the Washington Redskins. Is it a stereotype... possibly. Quite the opposite of discrimination.. It is a highly celebrated and beloved symbol of a storied franchise.

Those are the public high schools, all likely to be changed at some point because we know who wins these types of debates.

The more compelling point is the 70+ schools on indian reservations that use the name. And others that use Chiefs, Indians, Braves, etc which are also names that have all some under some level of scrutiny from small minorities as well.

The Indians themselves are split as wide as a canyon on this thing, so I just can't be compelled or convinced to think the name is a big enough issue to warrant forced change.

Okay, I just wanted to add my opinion.

First off, I am Cherokee and have a CDIB card, which by no means makes me an expert on Native American affairs or opinions, I did however grow up on an Indian reservation(Osage County in Oklahoma)



I also spent 10 years living in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Which is the Capitol of the Cherokee tribe(well ONE of the Cherokee tribes). Needless to say I have been around countless Native Americans from almost all the tribes my entire life. I have always proudly supported my teams colors, and never given a thought to term Redskins being offensive. I've NEVER had anyone, other than white people recently, tell me that its offensive.



Oklahoma football has a long history of Indian mascots, even a professional team in the 1920s "Hominy Indians" who beat the New York Giants. The Union Redskins(suburb of Tulsa) are one of the most dominant 6A High School football teams in the state every year.



Basically my point, as a Redskin fan hearing about how offensive our teams name is to Indians. I feel I'm kind of at Ground Zero here in Oklahoma.....And I've yet to meet a Native American that cares what our name is. Honestly I've meet some that wore the colors/logos just for the Indian representation and didn't even watch football.



Also, keep in mind when you see things like the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma finds the name offensive, so that must mean the 189,000 members of that tribe find it offensive.



No. Just because the Tribal Government issues a statement doesn't mean that is "the view" of that tribe. It's all just politics.
