i cant believe some people actually think replacement refs are doing a good job. I guess when you dont really watch any games you could have that point of view.

@KOF....i have to disagree with your opinion on the people who watch the highlight shows. I cant tell you how many times i watched the highlights of games i watched from start to finish and got a distorted view of how a game actually unfolded. People who get their info from these shows are not intelligent fans and do not know more about a game than someone who watched a game in full. All those highlight shows are about making a story and giving their opinion of the story they are trying to create. Or they are talking about something related to the big market teams because they want to get the most ratings. That is not an accurate representation of a game and can not provide someone with knowledge of football

it isn't that big of a deal.

the scabs were fine.

your entire areument...or at least one of them...in this thread has been pro scab. you have defended them and even gone as far as compare their quality in officiating to the real refs.
The scabs look like bumbling fumbling morons out there. They have no control of any of these games, so much so to the point where the league has asked players and coaches to relax on how they handle the refs during the game....and that was prior to the start of week 2. even the most elementary calls require a 2 minute huddle to get it right.

ralaw posted that article regarding the stats in the calls between Refs and Scabs. sure, the refs are calling a comparative number of flags per game, but stats dont tell any of the story. Watch the games, use your common sense and anyone can see the refs lack full knowledge of the rules.

- Warner watched all the morning games..... then the Rams game... and skipped out on the night games.
- Thread is about how poor the replacement refs have been
- Warner believes it's overblown and that all officiating usually isn't 100% (which is true).

If YOU actually read the thread, which you didn't.. probably because you're so hardcore watching 16 games this weekend including game replays, all 22 coaches games, because thats what HARDCORE FOOTBALL FANS DO DAMN IT.. you'd see W2B actually WANTS the real refs back. He just thinks the scabs haven't been as awful as everyone paints them out to be. Which if you saw ralaw's post that provided a little thing called evidence.. you'd see that.. ZOMG.. he's right!

But go ahead and continue to focus on some minute detail that has jack shit to do with a scab ref joking about his fantasy team and that being completely overblown because no player has ever been mic'd up saying "I hope you do well, have you on my fantasy team.." clearly these refs are all mini versions of Pete Rose just waiting to ruin everything.

i've said repeatedly, over and over, that i'd like to see the real officials back

i've said repeatedly that while they've been worse than the real officials, it hasn't been to a massive degree, so it's not that big of a deal, because the real officials are barely better

i provided examples of the real officials blowing the same procedural rules the past few years that these evil fake refs have blown (i.e, the extra Seattle timeout, a rule that is blown fairly often by the real officials, but without the current microscope, all of you DIE HARD I WATCH EVERY GAME GRRRRR fans don't notice. huh. but I'M the one influenced by "blogs", amirite?...lol)

i have agreed that the scabs have blown too many ball spots, penalty assessments, etc. embarrassing

my point is that the media & fans have blown the extent of how bad they are waaay out of proportion. disagree, fine. but ffs, stop being a dense tool and get my side of the argument correct before you choose to disagree with it. they stink, the real officials stink a little less. we'll all live.

To clarify I never claimed youd have an accurate idea of how the game unfolded...merely that doing an actual sunday routine of watching 2-3 games + highlights puts you ahead of the vast majority of people who'll skim a game glance a highlight show and think theyre diehards.

all bullshit aside, i dont agree with your view of the scabs and the scabs vs real refs. I think they got worse from week 1 to week 2.

I think the biggest difference between the scabs and real refs is the fundimental understanding of the game. The refs should not be seen or heard and should not be a story...the scabs are the story and are being seen and heard to much during the 5 games i watched last week. And yes, i think the media is blowing it up way beyond the reality.

I think we will see alot of illegal contact and PI flags this week.

Story from NFL.com on renewed talks with the officials and the league. Hopefully this will be resolved soon so that we can resume bitching about the poor officiating provided by the tenured officials.

NFL, NFLRA had substantial talks over two days; no deal yet

While replacement officials remain set to officiate Week 3 games around the NFL, on Monday, the NFL and the NFL Referees Association engaged in substantial talks on Monday and Tuesday, according to FOX Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer.

The NFL and NFLRA spoke about money during their in-person meeting. But serious issues between both sides still remain, a source briefed on the discussions told NFL.com and NFL Network reporter Albert Breer.

The NFL locked out the referees in June and hired replacements, who have been heavily criticized.

Also Adam Schefter is reporting that league has contacted all 32 teams and told them to show respect to the official or else....

NFL reached out to the owners, general managers and head coaches of all 32 teams this week to advise them that the type of on-field behavior they witnessed last weekend will not be acceptable this weekend. Coaches such as Denver’s John Fox and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, along with San Francisco head coach Jim Harbaugh, were spotted berating officials in a way unacceptable to the league office. “We contacted them to remind them that everyone has a responsibility to respect the game,” NFL Executive Vice President Ray Anderson said Thursday night. “We expect it to be adhered to this weekend and forevermore.” The last time the NFL reached out to so many teams on an in-season issue it felt this important was an October weekend in 2010, when there were multiple helmet-to-helmet hits on unsuspecting receivers, including a violent hit from Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson that got him fined $50,000 for hitting Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson. After watching the coaches behavior with replacement referees last weekend, the league determined it was unacceptable and put everyone on notice. Asked what would happen if another coach berated another replacement referee this weekend, Anderson said, “If someone were to make that mistake, he would be flagged on the field and he would be hearing from our office in a very firm way.”

I think the replacements are doing a terrible job. Things like screwing up the 2 minute warning, giving extra timeouts etc.. not even talking about the calls themselves.

Games are still running long. I know a lot of games went to OT but I think I heard that just one game this week has lasted 3 hours or less.

As I've been saying throughout this thread my issue isn't necessarily with individual bad calls but the overall flow of the game being impeded by the inexperience of these refs.
