Bears fans think he is the next coming saviour for there offense and dolphins fans are trashing him to no end calling him a bust.

This is normal for most players but the level it has gone to in this thread is fantastic for us outsiders wanting laughs.


Have the bears fixed their shit Oline yet? Marshall won't be getting any passes if cutlulz is still on the ground every play.

I don't see Bears fans proclaiming much other than what it is, which is a real WR that actually has an impact on the game. TBH I can't fault them......much like the Ravens when Boldin came on the scene I was elated. When your best WR over the past few season has been a converted CB from college Marshall is a godsend.

Personally, I think Brandon Marshall is incredibly overrated by most. He's not a top tier WR. When he's got a good QB throwing to him like Cutler...sure...he'll look good by proxy, but overall...he's good, but nothing special. They Dolphins traded two 2nds for him, they had him for two very pedestrian years, and flipped him for two 3rds...overall, not a bad return on an obviously depreciated asset.

He's dropped 23 passes in the past two seasons and has a total of 9 touchdowns.

I thought it was a fair trade, I don't think the Dolphins got fleeced. The Dolphins overpaid to get him. The new regime in Miami didn't want him, and I think they got a good return considering his numbers the last two years.

However, I'm not a big Brandon Marshall guy. This guy can't seem to keep his hands off of women, which is going to get him booted from the league. If I was running an NFL team, I wouldn't trade a box of jock straps for this nut.

Look, I understand why Bears fans are happy, but this is a player who has been criminally overrated since he was on Denver catching 100 balls per season (80 of which were likely 5-yard outs and bubble screens, like that joke of a 20-catch game). Still a good player, but not a great player, and like it or not, at or near the same level as some of the other recently dealt WR's. So to get two premium draft choices for the guy, even before we consider his immense baggage, is more than fair, and we obviously have a bunch of Madden GM's in this thread who have no concept of the worthless trade value of NFL WR's. Clearly the Bears are gambling, here.

Comparing him directly to Lloyd or Holmes or whoever and breaking down careers is missing the point. Nobody cares what Lloyd or Marshall did four years ago. Ancient history to a GM. The recent past shows that the two players are right around he same tier as players (and c'mon, bringing up Marshall's QB's, considering the collection of stiffs Lloyd has played with? Be fair). Plus, Marshall is the kind of guy who looks much better in the boxscore, and not quite as good when you watch him play.

I acknowledge your point W2B that you think it was a fair deal. I still disagree. Ill wait to see, and as you think youre in the right, im just as sure, that the value of him on the field will turn out to be more than a 3rd and a 3rd.

Even with him punching some wanna be socialite in NY, I still make that trade in a heartbeat. Cutler, Marshall, and Jeremy Bates is light years beyond anything the Bears have ever had. Not that he is THE savior, but the Bears have been lacking a true target for Jay since he got here, and now he has one, and even better its his boy.

Bates is a good coach but he gets away from the run game far too early in the game if it isn't working perfectly IMO. He's a lot better than Ron Turner but I'm not sure that he's "light years" better than Mike Martz.
