The new Miami staff doesn't like the player, so you can't say they didn't "need" to trade him. They didn't want him, so why keep him around? They got good value for what a WR of his caliber brings in a trade. So why do you have such an issue with it? They didn't give him away, they cleared a few million off the cap, and if this helps them land Manning, then it's a slam dunk must make move from that perspective, too.
