The point here is there is not much difference in the players, and saying that Lloyd can not be compared to Marshall (same for Holmes) is way off base. They are all similar.

If Marshall is better, it isnt by much. Lloyd does certain things better than Marshall (MUCH better hands, better deep threat), and has put up better numbers. It's closer than people think.

I'll give you that the past two seasons they've pretty much have had the same impact, but IMO Marshall when right is the far better player. I've like Lloyd for several years and always thought he was underrated....he probably has the best hands in the game. However, when Marshall is right he's on that second tier of great WRs.

Marshall was also coming off of much better season with much better production when Miami acquired him.

And for the record, I thought that was a bad trade for Miami at the time, and I ripped it at whatever site we were at, because i've never thought much of Marshall.

Turns out I was right. He wasn't worth it. And i'll be right again about this one.

Miami overpaid. Nobody was giving up two 2nd rounders for Marshall this time around. Two thirds? Good deal.

Look long and hard at Lloyd and Marshall's most productive seasons..

The one common denominator was Josh McDaniels and his offense which fed them the ball.

Marshall was at least special before McDaniels got to him, Lloyd was hot garbage before he got to Denver.

The point is not to dissect Marshall vs Lloyd, the point is that no matter who we look at in terms of recently traded WR's, Lloyd, Holmes, Moss, Boldin, take your pick, all guys of similar overall ability and value, and none of them netted two third round picks in return.

You could reasonably argue (you might not win, but you wont look foolish) that Marshall is anywhere from 1st-4th best on that list, yet he overwhelmingly netted the largest return.

Miami did fine.

He was all about his own stats and didn't want to play with Tebow.

Meanwhile we had a beast behind him in Demaryius Thomas who was more than willing to do things that piece of garbage wasn't.

It was a necessary move for the whole of the roster to get along.

ZoneBlitz thinks all of these decent WR's are worth 2nd rounders or more apparently, because he thinks every trade involving these guys is "stupid".

He has no concept of the value of the trade value of WR's in the NFL.
