Warner where'd you read about the guy ruling 12-0 in favor of the players? If that's teh case Braun can't be the first player to win an appeal.
I had it backwards.
This guy has actually ruled in favor of the union 12-0, which some are saying is the reason he went the other way on this one, because he was starting to look biased.
To me, that's a gigantic leap that i do not buy.
Anyway, the sample never left Braun's sight and was sealed in three places. One, the sample itself. Two, the bag the sample was placed in. And three, the box the bag containing the sample was placed in. The lab has to report on the condition of the seals upon arrival, and reported the seals as being in "pristine" condition. So if the idea that this collector intentionally tampered with the sample as Braun has insinuated isn't ridiculous enough, well, we can reasonably put that bullshit to bed.
I also heard a testing expert as a guest on a radio show today. He was asked if these types of tests are 99.9% accurate. His response was one word, "higher".
The bottom line, is if Braun could have argued about the legitimacy of the sample or the results, he would have. He argued the process, not the science, and the supposed break in the chain of custody (which may not have been broken, and is why MLB is waiting for the arbitrators report and may take this to court). He looked for the loophole, because that's all he had.
Personally, I believe that was his piss, I believe the results, and the only thing that can change my mind is the lab admitting a goof (would have happened by now) or the .00000001% chance that the collector is not only the world's greatest seal breaker, but also had the motive to frame Ryan Braun. Sounds preposterous to me.
