What an overeaction to last nights game, but that's what people do around here when it comes to Cutler & Orton.

And as predicted, it's taken ONE LOSS for the media & fans to turn on Martz. "He doesnt protect QB's!"

You have to admit that it was a pretty spectacular loss. 9 sacks in one half? I've never seen anything like it. Not from the 85 Bears, the Steel Curtain, anybody. The Bears had two QBs literally knocked out. If the Bears don't have Cutler, they are done.

Credit should really go to Martz for telling Cutler to just get rid of the ball as quickly as possible after Williams went down. Also take into account that Martz's offense has always given this team problems.

This was partially for the reason above. Wade decided to try and back guys off, but there were way too many lapses in the secondary. Alab Ball looked like a Ken Hamlin-type liability. Jenkins played his worst game since being named the starter. On Olsen's long TD, Wade sent Brooking and James on the blitz while having all the DB's about 10 yards off the ball. No one followed Olsen.


Again, they tried to counter the quick-toss the Bears were playing and subsequently got burned over the top.

A big portion of blame also goes to Wade for attempting that stupid pooch kick after Dez's TD when momentum was squarely on the Cowboys' side.

Last thought - 47 pass attempts in the first game, 51 in this game. I'm beyond fed up with Jason Garrett.issed:

Right. We couldn't blitz anymore because our DBs were retarded and would play 10 yards off the guy when we brought heat. Wade should have sat them down and told them to jam them at the line. IMO if Dallas lined up in straight man- cover 2 the entire game and jammed the WRs at the line, Cutler would have had no shot.

Instead we play 10 yards off and allow Cutler to take a 1 step drop and throw. It was horrendous really. But it is still early and I am not going to throw in the towel yet (although I might be one of the few).

DBs lining up 10 yards off the ball isn't on them.

Namely the DB coach (The immortal Dave Campo) and defensive coordinator.

It was surreal to watch.

But it's not as if the Bears havent had o-line problems going much further back than this year.

The Bears have been playing with fire all season. Cutler was neatly killed in a similar manner in the first Q vs. the Cowboys, and has been dancing pressure all year.

This is a team with a very shaky o-line, and sub par WR's. I mean, they didnt even bother to go get depth guys who know the system, and MANY were available - Holt, Curtis, McDonald, Furrey, Looker etc.

If any team can generate a pass rush with 4 guys like the Giants had last night and drop 7 guys into coverage. I don't care who the OC or QB is.....it's going to be ugly.

It's important to note that the Bears OL didn't look all that bad against the Cowboys or Packers, two teams that run the 3-4 and run it pretty darn well, and then looked like complete shit against a 4-3 team like the Giants.

The OL looked like shit, but Cutler played a huge part of all those sacks because he refuses to get rid of the football. The guy is mobile, he can move, he can get out of the pocket and throw it away. Instead, he continues to sit there and slowly prod out of the pocket and try to fire it deep.

He forces shit time and time again or just holds onto it until he is sacked. He needs to get better at throwing it away or going down.

I also saw him run out of bounds for a 2 yard lass on 2nd and 7 when he could have easily thrown it away. Looked like he was more worried about his completion percentage than a 3rd and 9. He's a fucking idiot.

I remember seeing that and being like....WTF?!

Why on earth would a QB possibly do that when they can just flick it out of bounds? Show a little awareness for once.

He wasn't getting hurried and he just made a dipshit move. Any team in the league could have made that interception, no matter what kind of defense they were playing. It was almost too easy to even give the Giants defender credit for it.

I didn't.......Cutler made a poor choice to throw to a covered defender...however read uptop my comments about Collinsworth....and put them in context. There were no Bears WR's open practically all night. IMO Cutler was trying to fit it into a tight spot between the two players and threw an inaccurate pass. Bad choice? Sure. However If he doesn't throw it and holds it then he gets shit for holding the ball too long. If he throws it into tight spots he gets shit on for stupid throws. I guess he could throw it away but then you have people "lulzing" at his stats. He's screwed no matter what he does most times...especially last night.

It wasn't even a bad pass though. It was in stride to Olsen, but Olsen happened to have a guy in front of him that was nearly impossible not to see.

It's not about what people will talk about after the game. It's about what Cutler does for the team. That pick was much more costly than a sack or him throwing it away. I just can't see many guys in the league making that throw other than Cutler.

What was Cutler supposed to do? He was either going to get sacked, or throw the ball into heavy coverage, like he did on his INT.

If you watched the game, you would have seen the Bears bringing in 2 TE's or an extra RB to max protect. Almost every offensive play had Greg Olsen and A RB, or Brandon Manuelena and a RB, or both TE's back there to max protect. That leaves 2 WR's out there for Cutler to throw to. The Giants were dominating up front with their 4 man rush. No doubt about that. It was ridiculous.

Cutler simply had no choice but to sit back there and wait for one of our "GREAT" WR's to get open against the Giants defense. IDC who the WR's are, your not going to find 2 WR's in the NFL thats going to get open against 7 back there.

I understand that a lot of times there was nobody to throw to, but I refuse to believe that Cutler had nobody to throw to all night and that is why he took so many sacks.

There were windows and opportunities to throw the ball but they are only open for a split second. Cutler has to identify them and get rid of the ball when he has the chance to, if he misses that window of opportunity, he needs to figure out his next move - roll out and throw it away or throw it at the feet of one of his receivers.

There are plenty of ways to avoid sacks. Sitting there and looking downfield while big pissed off gorillas like Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora are hunting your fucking ass down is not one of them.

I don't buy that Cutler had nobody to throw to all night. Obviously, I can't prove it, because I don't have the game film and the camera angles that we get don't show the receivers and coverages, they typically just show LBs/DL/OL/QB, which is unfortunate.

And I'm not saying it is all Cutler's fault. Plenty of fault needs to be put on the receivers, the OL, and the backs. But Cutler has to improve in that area, there are no excuses for it and no other ways around it. He is taking way too long to make a decision.

Cutler has stood in for the past two season and gotten pasted. Questioning his toughness or moxy is off base IMO. Yeah the guy makes shitheaded throws but I've never thought he didn't care.
