Well I just wrote about 400 words on here summarizing my thought on the game, QB situation, etc. and then VSN ate it.

WHOA! Kyle Orton has lost a little ground here in the QB battle but how could that be? With Tim Tebow being demoted to 3rd string surely Kyle Orton has a vice grip on the position, correct?

While Tim Tebow may have fallen out of the race, and maybe out of Denver altogether, a new challenger has emerged....

That's right. A year and five months after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns for All-Pro running back Peyton Hillis and two draft picks, Brady Quinn actually looked like a professional football player last night.

Now Quinn is still pretty deep in Orton's rear view, hence the eight Orton reading, but like Orton the former first round pick is also in the final year of his deal and is unlikely to sign another contract with the Broncos to be a back up.

With Quinn being two years younger than Orton the Broncos front office will surely be giving him a hard look throughout the season to see if he may be the future. And if Orton has to miss any games the way he has the past two seasons in Denver, I would look for Quinn to be trying to steal the job with every pass he throws.

I believe the Tebow being cut/moved theory. I think that the fact Weber got snaps in that game with Tebow only getting one series after playing almost half of the first preseason game was pretty telling.

I think Denver is more than ready to move on with Orton/Quinn (with one going to the first team to have a starter go down) and Weber as the backup

Quinn's transformation is as telling as anything. He looks light years more confident than he did even last season and there's no reason for Tebow to look as flustered as he has (that INT he got bailed out on in the 1st preseason game; that crazy play where he ran all over the place that resulted in three offensive penalties; being noticeably upset as he came off the field in that last game) especially if he were to put in that same level of work.

He's a third string QB at best this year and, based on what looks to be a regression from where he was at last season, I don't know if he'll ever be better than that.

No. 4 quarterback Adam Weber​ waived. If he clears, he will be a practice squad candidate.

Closet Quinn fans say the exact same thing because his name is listed first... Fact of the matter is, IF Quinn was the better QB he'd be listed as the #2 QB. Elway and Fox have made it clear, the BETTER QB will play!

And.... Big time Orton backers are frazzled because he always ends up injured! That's definitely not good sign going into a FA year... Especially with a rookie RT and second string/weak side rookie TE.

Tebow WILL have more of a POSITIVE impact on this years team (Denver Broncos) than Brady Quinn, even if he's listed at the #3 QB.

Honestly, I don't think this "race for the 2 spot" really matters. Who gives a shit which spot on the bench you're warming? You're not playing anyways... Besides, they'll still probably try to sneak Tebow in for some tricky packages here and there even if he is the number 3 guy. He may not be what they want in an "every down QB" but that doesn't mean he's useless. Quinn probably only ever goes in at the end of a blowout or injury to Orton. I can't see a special in-game situation where a healthy Orton would not be used for a crucial play and Quinn would - Tebow, maybe. Especially if they wanted to try something like a wildcat.

It has nothing to do with me being "cool" or not. All I'm saying is that Tebow has made ZERO progression from year one to year two in terms of making quick reads and not just tucking the ball and running when his first option is covered because he can't check off a receiver until his has seen them complete their entire route for some reason.

That's a mental mistake, just like the delay of game penalties he was picking up, those are on the QB and should not be happening.

I was all aboard the Tebow hype train because I believed that he would be able to work all this shit out.

Is it because he didn't put in the work? Did he put in the work and it's still not taking for some reason? I don't really know and I don't really care, all I know is that right now he is not someone I would trust to manage my team from the QB position and I'm having serious doubts as to whether he ever will.

FYI, Quinn failed to lock up the 2nd string QB role, so the Broncos were forced to list #1QB Kyle Orton followed by #2 Quinn or Tebow, on the OFFICIAL denverbroncos.com depth chart.

Just because Orton is a better QB and THE NATIONAL Media's coverage is geared toward ratings, doesn't mean Tebow is going to be "ass and the Broncos won't even let him hold a clipboard backing up Orton"... Orton proved it since day one of this camp, yet being the less popular QB it was framed as a Orton vs. Tebow race early on! Anyone who saw the Broncos first pre-season game knows that there is no way Brady Quinn will see the field in a Broncos uniform unless something horrific were to happen to Orton THIS SEASON. If he goes down next year Tebow is the guy. It really pisses me off that we gave away Hillis for that piece of garbage.

I think Denver probably missed on teams looking for a starter who can give Elway what he wants. Right now Denver is just waiting on a contender losing their starter and having to overpay for the neckbeard.
