I'm sticking to my previous list with GSP sitting atop at #1. By August I imagine Silva and Fedor swapping places even if they both win, Fedor moving to 2 and Silva dropping to 3. A win over Barnett is far greater than Silva beating Griffin, plus for Silva that also means that he really hasn't beaten anyone elite in a long time. So, as much as I bashed Fedor about that in the past I gotta be fair and admitt that by August Fedor is going to be the one who faced stiffer comp in the last year or so.

But, I ask again especially after the other night - who can beat GSP?

The only way is catching him like Serra did, a knee on a takedown or something like that

You can not out wrestlle him, out work him, or sub him at this point

The double leg GSP hit where he ripped both of Alves legs out to the side in the 4th round was amazing, you pull shit like that off in practice, not in the 4th round of a championship fight, just crazy athletic

Someone like Alves 'could' beat GSP, if I was in his corner, not saying I know more than ATT because they are 1 of the best camps in MMA and I dont, but at some point in the fight after the 2nd or 3rd round they needed to have Alves change his gameplan, he was not going to stop GSP's takedowns, he needs to sell out on the knee when GSP shot every time

Tell him, if you see GSP change levels you knee, if you think he is going to shoot, knee, if you have a feeling he is going shoot, knee! He fought very cautious because of the takedowns, but at some point you have to let it go

Just like when Hermes fought Sherk, he threw 3 or 4 solid knees to Sherk heads that landed, Sherk just was able to fight it off, that was Alves only chance of getting the win and he still had some gas in the later rounds to pull it off

8. Shogun +- (Neutral, Shogun can move either way at this point. If the Shogun from Pride is back he's going to be moving up. If the Shogun that fought Mark Coleman resurfaces then he could move back down)

I'm saying it's not going to be a win that would put him over Anderson or GSP for me and Machida beating Shogun would be a far greater accomplishment. Any win helps, but in terms of P4P talks it's not one that'll do much for his stock. So, I could see Machida taking his spot if he wins, even if it's only temporary.

Aside from AA, Couture, Barnett, Nog, Lesnar/Carwin once they have more experience, along with a select few other guys who could give him a tough match as well.

its not that it doesnt help its that Rogers isnt exactly at the top of the heap of current HW's. Rogers is a relative new-comer to the sport with his only notable victory coming from knocking out glass jaw arvloski. not saying Rogers is a Gonzaga-esque bum (to put it in terms larry would understand) but if Rogers goes out and gets zulu'd (which will happen) it doesnt do much for Fedor

Rogers is a Top 10'r right now and Fedor going through him is just another notch on his belt.

Are we at the point where Fedor running through a Top 10 heavy is ho hum? Honestly, I thought he'd beat Barnett convincingly, too, and Barnett is the second best heavy in the world. Would fedor crushing Barnett be ho hum like the seemingly destruction of Rogers will be?

i guess its fair enough to put rogers in the top 10 but his lack of experience is what would hold people back from saying a win over him would be extremely impressive.

sidenote- brett rogers doesnt have a sliver of the resume that Barnett has. you cannot compare the two whatsoever

well you cant blame fedor. he beats who's in front of him. its not his fault after he beat AA and Tim they went out and got destroyed making people think maybe they werent as good as we thought. like i said before rogers is inexperienced and if fedor steam rolls him its just "oh well rogers doesnt have enough fights under his belt, wasnt ready for him, etc etc." might be unfair buts thats how most people think.

I think Barnett is 3rd best, but no a win over Barnett is faaarrr different than a win over Rogers. Beating Barnett would mean A LOT more. You're talking about beating a HW legend vs a guy who barely fits into the top 10 picture and only has one solid win thus far in his career.

Nah, Carwin is a better overall prospect and higher up the list right now. You guys are hyping up Rogers too much.
