60m time limit is fucking ridiculous in the first place.

I'm talking...20m TV time limit. Last two segments of the show.

But, W2B, I understand, you went to a ton of shows, I'm sure during the ROH period where CM Punk, and Danielson, Joe, et al would try and pull Ric Flair's every night. I'd get tired, too...but, 20m TV time limit is fine by me.

I knew what you meant with the Kurt Angle thing.

I just went off on a tangent. I've never liked the long time limit draw. Or really long matches period, for that matter. It's hard to keep an audience engaged or tell a good story for that long. There always seems to be a ton of stalling when guys go that long (see: HBK vs Bret Hart). To me, of that's the case, why not cut out the bullshit and just go a half hour?

I think the sweet spot for a long world title type of match is about 40 minutes. 20-25 is a little short, and 45-50 is really pushing it. Not that I haven't seen really long matches that are great, but the majority of 60 minute singles matches i've seen have put me to sleep.

60 minute matches are almost never great. They're marathons, and speak more to the endurance to be able to pull off moves and not hurt anybody after being in there for 45 minutes. But they're so damn boring and obviously drawn out, that they actually end up having the opposite effect than desired. It's supposed to be impressive, and to an extent it is. But the match as the sum of it's parts is almost completely unimpressive. For instance, Hart is so proud of his WM iron man match, but his match with Diesel....DIESEL...was 100x more entertaining and dare I say better. That's the hour match in a nutshell. Hart/Michaels could have put on a ridiculously good match, but instead put on a watered down affair due to having to pace themselves over that amount of time. It seems like a waste of time.

Meltzer talked about people walking out of the Pond during Bret/Shawn it was so long.

WWE overrates it tremendously but it's definitely no classic. I can remember being bored by it when I was about 8 watching it live lol.

I honestly have no idea how Kurt Angle benefits from being involved in the Aces & Eights angle. Nobody in the group is likely going to be on the level of feuding with Angle, even in a one shot instance. Only way in my opinion it could be a good idea is if somehow Jeff Jarrett comes back as the leader.

There's just something about Show and the Pale Ginger fighting it out that harkens back to thoughts of two big, dumb uglies losing their shit and brawling for a good 7-8 minutes on TV and then 15 on PPV.

And what's best about it is there's no dumb gimmick of Condoms or Leprechauns or other dumb shit.

Just two large assholes that want to beat each other to a bloody pulp for the title.

I dig it.

Looking for that logic from a WWE storyline (especially this one) is going to upset you. Seriously, you need to find some other wrestling to watch and just divorce yourself from WWE.

It's like watching Shoot Em Up or the Resident Evil movies, and expecting something on par with The Godfather. WWE will have it's funny moments, have it's action moments, but ultimately fall short. It's good, mindless entertainment but you should not expect more than a B-list popcorn action flick.

The story is that they had this whole seven match series planned out, but then the people in charge of the NWA changed and the new people in charge would not sanction the final match as a title match.

So Cabana basically buried the NWA Title on his podcast, and then this happened. The idea was that Pearce was going to lose the best of seven, lose the title, and retire. But that got blown up, so unless they are working everybody (which is always a possibility), Pearce & Cabana decided to shoot on the NWA and toss the belt away.

To everything, there is a season. And as it goes, the seasons change.

As I pen this, I am only hours removed form the biggest moment in my wrestling career; a moment that surely has not hit me yet. Colt Cabana defeated me in #7LevelsOfHate, ending a war of more than two years, but also ending an era. My season changed.

As I lay there mid-ring, bleeding profusely and soon to tap out to Cabana's 'Billy Goat's Curse', I had a clear and lucid moment wherein I knew unequivocally that I was also about to give up something more, something much bigger than I.

On five occasions I have been blessed and honored to have worn the 'ten pounds of gold'. It is without question my greatest wrestling achievement and the undisputed highlight of my career. But as I plainly told the wrestling world at the outset of #7Levels, if I couldn't beat Colt Cabana in the series, I would walk away.

The fact is that I lost. And now I must walk away.

Thank you to the National Wrestling Alliance for believing in me. The faith showed by the previous leadership and membership will never be lost on me, nor will the respect that has been shown me by the new leadership. I sincerely thank all of you with the same passion and pride that I tried to pour into every single performance along the way, and I humbly wish you nothing but the very best as we all move forward.

The simple truth is that I may never step foot into an NWA ring again. Should that come to pass, please know that the times that I did are among the happiest of my entire life.

I can only hope that the next man to wear my "sweet Charlotte" will feel exactly the same.
