I remember when Owen Hart started in the WWF after his stint in Japan. He was awesome, so unreal, then in months he became bland. It was so sad.

Doesn't mean we have to like it.

I haven't spent a dime on the WWE (aside from a few DVD's when the ECW revival started in '05-ish) in probably a decade or more. That's really all you can do (besides bitch on the internet) if you don't like it.

Same goes for ROH. I don't like the direction, so I dont spend money on it anymore.

The only company I spend any money on these days is Dragon Gate.

I'm reading Hogan's book (the newest one) and it's pretty good. I have no idea if what he is saying is true, partially true, or entirely made up, but it's entertaining. I read almost the whole thing today and would recommend it to all of you...if you like Hogan, you'll like it, if you don't like Hogan, you'll still like it because you'll get a laugh out of it thinking it's mostly lies...can't go wrong!

I have trouble believing some of what he wrote about Linda is true because no sane man would stay with a woman like her if it is, but I dunno...

this is because instead of just FCW they should have 6-7 devs. know your getting Steve Kerns version of what works for TV

I agree with RVD they need to bring back squashes, Cena needs to be on tv twice a month and at the PPV. guys that cant work should be used in vins and only work at the PPV

mid card guys that can go should be on every night

I really miss those days. Like I understanding getting awesome matches on free TV, but what's the point?

It renders PPVs absolutely worthless.

In this day and age, they should go back to jobbers and squash matches because there isn't the constant competition to put PPV matches on TV for free.

You got to this format because WCW and WWE needed to pop the highest rating and they did so by giving PPV material for free.

Once Vince purchased WCW, you should have seen a slow decline back to near jobber matches with the best matches being the regular mid-card matches.

But alas, now we get John Cena v. Randy Orton in 3908420948049 ways BEFORE the actual match at a PPV.

Very weird stuff.

On the flip side, would you see the packed stadiums with Cena v. Scrub Bum 2? Doubt it.

Hogan is so totally and completely full of shit (at all times), that I have trouble deciding whether he just has a bad memory, is a compulsive liar, or just is so consumed with being a worker that it's his natural instinct to work the marks at all times.

In this day and age, they should go back to jobbers and squash matches because there isn't the constant competition to put PPV matches on TV for free.

Your random 12 year old who begged his parents to go to RAW, just wants to hold up his sign, buy his spin belt, and see John Cena. The teenage girl who loooooves Jeff Hardy probably doesn't care if even wrestles a match or not.

I don't think total squashes with no name jobbers would work in 2010, but you could definately get away with limiting how often the big stars wrestle on TV, and when they do, have them suqash lower mid carders (jobbers-to-the-stars) like Charlie Hass, Funaki, etc. Fill the rest of the show with mid carders vs. mid carders.

I do strongly believe that the "World Title" should rarely (if ever) be defended on TV. Tite matches used to be the easiest way to draw money, and now they are absolutely meaningless in that regard. If you make the title special, and stop giving away title matches for free, people will be more apt to pay for them.

It would also help if they didnt switch the title 8-10 times per year, but that would take care of itself if you limited title matches to once per month (not counting house shows).

Yeah, I think you are right. Some of it is just so out there...it just makes you shake your head sometimes, what he says. But you are probably right. 10% is probably fact, the rest made up...

Agreed. The Bret Hart book was phenomenal. Chris Jericho's book and "The Death of WCW" are really good also.

I would agree that they they don't need to have main eventers face each other all the time... I think that's part of what makes PPVs feel less important anymore.

Definitely agree on Bret Hart's book. It was a very cool read for me, partly because I grew up in Stampede Wrestling's territory and used to go the occasional show when I was kid (plus watched them on TV a ton). I got to see Bret Hart before his WWF days.

Also found a pretty good book on Stampede Wrestling and the Hart family - Pain and Passion by Heath McCoy.

For regular house shows, I agree. For RAWs and Smackdowns...I think there is a serious draw at this stage for stars v. stars.
