Your opinion is horrible though, lol. It's something I would expect from a little kid who just wants to see Vick play again right away. To think that he doesn't deserve every little thing he's getting is just plain ignorant. Actually, he doesn't even deserve what he is getting, if anything Goodell is being way too easy on him.
Picture me in my FedEx uniform (just so everyone recognizes I am a FedEx worker, as everyone knows Vick is in the NFL) and I'm out in my backyard, just enjoying the nice sunny weather on a Saturday afternoon. I got a cold beer, flipping some hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, electrocuting some pit bulls, just relaxing and enjoying life. Now I'm on the news for animal crimes and the CEO of FedEx, Fred Smith calls me and asks me if I had been electrocuting pit bulls last Saturday. I blatantly lie to him and say last Saturday I was at the library reading some books.
Later on I go to court and admit my involvement in doggy play time, I go to jail for two years and lose my job, then I get out. Now tell me something, do you honestly expect Mr. Fred Smith to hire me back?
The simple answer should be hell no. And on a serious note, that's all it comes down to. You are putting Vick on Jesus' level or something, like he deserves special treatment because he can run around fast with an oddly shaped ball.
If I was Vick, i'd be more than happy to be reinstated with a 6 to 8 week suspension. If Goodell told me, you're suspended for a year. I'd take it and thank God that night. If he said two years, I'd do the same thing. Vick's lucky to be where he's at after what he did. The average joe would be staying in his momma's house while working some shitty fast food job for the next five years until he can move up to assistant manager.
in your opinion it is anyways...
your right the the average joe would be at, as warner2bruce put it mcfuckingdonalds, but vick is not the average joe now is he? the point i was and am trying to make and the angle from which my opinion rises is from the view of the players. a sad fact is that 90% of them dont have an issue with vick killing dogs and dont see why it is a big deal. i understand your point, and as I already have said, i actually agree that he is lucky to be even given a chance. but the persepctive i chose to use for my article was not that of everyday average work your ass off joe vsn'er. goodell may have made the right choice, vick is most definetly lucky to even get a sniff at the nfl, but that is not the perception that i got.
Vick, to his credit, has not and most likely will not say a word about being upset, and as well he should. vick needs to walk the itght rope here and be sure he us citzen perfect or he will never see the field in an nfl game. though he may not see one due to his skllz being gone as well, until a team signs him all this is just us arguing our points of view, of which none are inncorrect or ignorant, except if mitch, lupe, aso or jax come in here, then we just call them idiots and move on.
I stand by my opinion that the way goodell handled this will have far reaching impilcations that we cannot see now. as the CBA talks get heated up i fully expect the players union to ask for independent arbitraion like baseball has in regards to suspensions. and they will most likely get it. I actually like the personal conduct policy and what it has done to knuckle heads like chris henry and adam jones. i also will appluade what it does to brandon marshall, plax and stallworth and possibly even big ben if the need is there. this issue was a polarizing one and maybe goodell didnt have what everyone can agree was a 'correct' move. if he lets him come back right away he is too soft, if he sends him out for a year he is too harsh, if he does what he did he is stirring up trouble with the union. damned if you do damned if you dont. the best thing that can come out of this is if the union can get a third patry involved in the suspension of the players if not for anything else than to take away the feeling by the players that goodell is acting like their 'master'.
then again i could be wrong still. if you will notice i end all of my GBU colums with an opinion staement in which i attempt humor but also let people know what i say isnt law, it is the opinion of one man and i welcome different viewpoints as after all, this is still a free country, right?
