2) Who specifically has said "There is a racist overtone to Goodell being the czar of the NFL"? If no one has said this, how can you then say it "depends on who you ask"?

What? I understand the entire time you've been saying that you believe Goodell has been doing a good job, but what does that have to do with you saying, "A lot of these knuckle heads think since they have skated their whole life they can just whatever they want" With this statement you are implying that the NFL players don't believe they should be punished for their deviant off the field activities. Is that not what you said? How do you know what NFL players are thinking about Goodell suspending players with off the field issues?

At this point the only thing you've said to back up your "racism" argument is that Goodell is white and the majority of the players are black. Am I to believe that anytime a white person is over a majority of blacks that racism should come into play? Obviously anyone could claim racism.....I could claim the lady who wouldn't let me over in the traffic jamb was racist as well. Does that make it true or worth bringing up? I'm going to tell you what I really think....you mentioned the race angle one time..this leads me to believe that it really wasn't researched or thought out, and as a matter of fact the only reason it was included in the writting was to get attention.

The last I checked most people outside of the "anti-establishment" group don't have a problem with Goodell suspending players with off the field issues that counter the image the league is trying to put out. Do you have any articles were people are complaining about Goodell suspending players? BTW, who has he suspended? Adam Jones, Chris Henry, Vick, Matt Jones, etc...Who would have a problem with these guys being suspended?

players, like adam jones and chris henry, have shown their attitude for just thinking they can get away with whatever they want by their actions. hence the 'these knuckle heads...' comment. are they all knuckle heads? no, but we all know how one bad apple can spoil the bunch, or in this case tarnish the image, and when all the hyperbole is gone, this is what it is all about it.

What Roger Goodell has done with not allowing Michael Vick to play right away has destroyed any goodwill the players union and he had. When the personal conduct policy was written with the help of Gene Upsahw and the players they wanted to clean up the game. By allowing the commissioner to suspend people for 'integrity of the game' issues they gave him ultimate power. Up until now he has not abused this. He has suspended such great upstanding players as Adam 'Pacman' Jones, and Chris Henry. legal issues resolved or not, those guys got what they deserved.

The intent of the players and Mr. Upshaw was not to have Rodger become this all powerful czar with ultimate control over players. The idea was that these young knuckle heads were running around acting like morons and making the NFL look bad. The point was to clean up the image, to let people know that even these newly minted millionaires had to answer to someone. Now, the plan has backfired. Goodell in his infinite wisdom has made him and the league look heartless and petty. The attempt by the commissioner to save face has not only back fired with the public, but has raised a thousand other issues and in time when the collective bargaining agreement is to be renegotiated, this could spell trouble for the league on a much higher level than just public relations. If you add in the implication that Goodell is a white man presiding over a mostly black constituency you have the potential for a situation that could make the baseball strike look like a beer between friends. This whole thing smacks of a personal hurt being avenged by Goodell for Vick lying to him about his involvement in the dog fighting operation.

notice i used the word implication. meaning that it could be taken that way, not that it was that way. my point was that it is possible that it could be seen as racist if one wanted to see it in that way. do i think it is a race thing? no. if someone claimed it was could i see that it might be? yes, but to me there would need to be evidence. the reason it was mentioned at all was to be a worst case senario on the table and to generate discussion, wich for the most part it was. so your attention idea isnt that far off, but it was thought out.

I must admit....I did give up. Sometimes is simply better to just walk away. As you and others know he had no basis for the majority of the article; however, instead of just admitting that fact he instead would rather say, "did you read the article", "this is my opinion" or simply ignore what he couldn't respond to. With this thread being stickied I guess I got my hopes up and really thought he had a basis for his writings, but I learned that he didn't and that it really wasn't worth it anymore.

It got to the point where I realized that he wasn't writing the article to have people such as me, you, W2B, etc challenge him and have a real discussion on it, but instead to have people congratulate him on writing it.
