Silva naturally walks around as a LHW, so the weight isn't that big of a factor, IMO. I really think that the large technique advantage of Silva will overcome any weight difference. I expect to see Forrest try to stand up for a bit and prove his standup game, but will lose because of it.

For whats its worth Forest usually walks around more like a heavyweight.

I still aint betting against a determined Anderson Silva..

230lbs is heavy weight correct. I thought they was fighting at the 205lb mark.

they are, but thats just what they have to weigh in at. Forrest is huge for a 205er...walks around at 235-240 and will probably come into the fight weighing somewhere around 230. That kind of weight advantage can be a huge difference with the right gameplan. Silva hasnt faced anyone close to as big as forrest. plus, griffin has a solid chin and great cardio and if it goes to the ground, forrest is a solid wrestler with good subs and the aforementioned size advantage. I think that with the right gameplan, forrest can grind this one out into a W. or, anderson silva could go spiderman on his ass and walk away with it, its a tough one to call.

Everyone has to remember this isn't a five round fight. Griffin only has to get a couple of take downs/land some inside strikes to steal 2/3 rounds

That doesnt make much sense, the majority of fighters walk around at a weight class above

The weight is still a big factor in this fight, not saying Silva losses just because of it, but it is still a factor, Silva can seem big by looks because he is tall, but he has a skinny mans frame, unlike Forrest

Just a couple years ago And1 could make 167

Forrest wouldnt even be able to make 185, plus he has a big cut just to make 205

good point, it doesnt take much to win a 3 round fight sometimes, just a little thing like a TD at the end of the round can do it

Forrest just needs to ugly it up and keep Silva on the cage and on the ground a couple times

I don't know why you guys think Griffin is going to come in with a takedown gameplan and try to fight out of his style. Forrest is a stand up fighter and loves to trade. He will get suckered into a slug-fest whether he wants to or not and Silva will pick him apart.

Forrest will be cut within the first round. He can stand and trade with anyone because of his chin but Anderson Silva is on another level.

I'd like to think that Forrest won't stand up and trade with Silva but I don't see it happening even if that is his gameplan.

Forrest is very good at coming up with and implementing a gameplan though. He doesnt have to shoot for a takedown, he just needs to weather the storm standing, clinch up, and lean on Spider for a while, work his dirty boxing, and then get it to the ground. He knows as well as everyone else that Silva can outpoint him standing up, I see him making this one ugly.

He worked a five round plan of leg kicks against Rampage, and that could of turned into a brawl fast. I don't see why it's different here

this isnt TUF forrest, he is a pretty smart fighter now and has been training at xtreme couture for a while, I dont think he will be shooting double legs, but he will work the dirty boxing and clinch game for takedowns

yeah, just clinch as in dirty boxing, greco style, making it ugly

silva does have a great thai clinch, but he wont be able to hold it like he does against shorter, weaker guys, forrest will just push his chest out and lift his head and nullify it IMO
