I can name maybe 5 times that the announcers actually commented on a strike landed by Machida. Early on Shogun had a few good body kicks, he hit him with an elbow, but other than that it was nothing but leg kicks landed by Shogun, all the while Machida was hitting Shogun in his body and face. Even after Machida was hit by these "devestating" leg kicks he still moved just like he always does.

You can make a small argument that Rua won the fight, would i disagree, yes a bit, but for anyone to say that Shogun won significantly is ridiculous.

No friggin way was Machida close to finishing the fight at the end of the fourth. They were both slugging away and each landed a shot.

While they were slugging away Shogun landed 3 strikes.

People need to remember that the champion will get the nod in close rounds. The only fight where that didn't happen was the Rampage/Griffin fight and people bitched about it not happening.

Personally, I had Shogun winning 48-47, but I definitely can understand having the card 48-47 Machida if you give the champion the nod in close rounds.

He won, before the decision was announced i called it a 48-47 fight. Shogun landed strikes but Machida also landed some which is what everyone seems to have forgotten.

I'm not saying it wasn't close. Despite some people calling it boring, I loved that fight.

But I only had Machida winning round 3 for sure, and otherwise, a maybe on round 2, but I didn't see enough out of Machida in those other three rounds to convince me he won that fight, especially not by unanimous.

Remember when Machida was smacking the hell out of Rua while he was connecting too? Do you remember Rogan saying anything about that? How about when Machida kicked the hell out of his liver but when Shogun connected with a leg kick during that, they said nothing about Machida? Maybe you should watch the fight without commentary ok?

i could listen to it on mute or loud enough for my neighbors to hear. rua won that fight

The problem with the Forrest comparison is that Rua wasn't knocked down. The points should have still been in his favor.

exactly. outside of machida laying out cold on the mat what else could of Shogun done to win the fight? im not saying it was dominating victory but when you land 10x the amount of shots and are never once in trouble of being knocked out, what else do you have to do?

i scored the fight 4-1 for rua, i could even see 3-2 for him but machida didn't do enough to win. rua pressed the action and did more damage
