UFC 104: Machida vs Shogun 10/24

Yeah Machida is put in a funny spot here.. you have to think even he and his corner were pretty surprised by the decision. Now Machida looks like the bad guy, which he obviously isnt.. but wow, what can you say? I cant think of a worse decision ive seen since watching MMA. There HAS to be some kind of bias influence there.. it just doesnt make sense.

Dave Meltzer saying he scored it Shogun, as did press row, is probably the best opinion. Those guys know their shit, and don't have to listen to the commentary

Plus the live reporters get the perspective from cageside, as do the judges.

Meltzer always said he could see how the judges scored it for Bisping when he won over Hamill.

i kinda feel bad for machida in a way. he clearly lost the fight but was handed a decision. now hes become some sort of villian even though he had nothing to do with the judges.

It could end up being the best thing to ever happen to him.

Before, nobody gave a shit about him. He's pretty much gauranteed to be boo'd out of the building for the rematch, and Rua will be a big time crowd fave. Should be a great atmoshphere, and they will probably double whatever they did tonight when they fight again.

The only thing I can assume is the judges gave Machida some sort of advantage for being the champion and the fact Shogun never came close to finishing the fight (even though the reverse is also true).

I still think Machida took way too much damage without dishing it out to win.

I dunno, it was a pretty boring fight and the decision was ridiculous. There's no way I'd order the rematch, personally.

and why were they raving about shogun? he was landing clean shots all night! imagine that. machida did land shots but shogun landed about 100 times more. theres no way in hell you could say machida deserved that one. shogun dominated through and through.

I'm not sure ask Joe why he was. Maybe it was because Machida actually was hit with some shots. Every single time Shogun through that leg kick usually Machida hit him that the same time but all we heard was "Nice leg kick by Shogun". How everyone forgotten about the first round when Machida kneed Shogun enough times in the clinch. THen in the second round when Shogun caught a knee on a takedown attempt but when that happened Rogan stated "Rua going for the takedown".

Please enlighten us on the moments Machida had Rua in trouble outside of the end of the third round.

i dont get how people say the commentators were all over shoguns "nuts". he was dominating the fight landing leg kick after leg kick after leg kick while machida was doing next to nothing. what do you want them to say? they were biased towards shogun cause he was winning and when machida did come forward and land shots they commented on that too. what do you want them to say? "machidas eats a leg kick, runs away, eats another leg kick, runs away again and eats another leg kick but ummm yeah hes doing good" u srs?

Quit listening to Rogan k? Do you remember Machida landing jabs, crosses, straights, body kicks, and leg kicks on Rua? Do you remember Rua running to the end of the octagon so many times when he was getting smacked? Do you remember Machida kneeing the hell out of Shogun in the beginning of the fight? Do you remember when Machida slipped, Shogun tackled him, and Machida standing right back up? Shogun won 2 rounds, Machida won 3, build a bridge and get over it before you tell me I don't know anything about the sport ok? I've been watching this sport way before it became popular and everyone tried to defend it with their sorry 2 cents. Thx :hahaha:

Seriously dude? I was pulling for Machida (personal prediction and betting wise) and even im saying theres not a fucking chance Machida won that fight. Im not sure what you were watching but it was probably Machida vs a black guy named Rashad.

Personally, end of the fourth Machida was close to ending the fight. Shogun ate some nasty punches and backed him to the end of the cage. I definitely want to see a rematch because these 2 came in brawling, I take nothing from Shogun at all, he had an excellent performance but it wasn't able to keep up with Machidas.

Nah several times they would say "nice leg kick Shogun" or "nice body kick Shogun" but ignore the nice counter Machida gave in return. Rogan was without a doubt bias towards Shogun tonight, but Shogun without a doubt also pretty much dominated the fight. Just they failed to ignore the little that Machida did well, I pointed it out several times throughout the fight.

I can name maybe 5 times that the announcers actually commented on a strike landed by Machida. Early on Shogun had a few good body kicks, he hit him with an elbow, but other than that it was nothing but leg kicks landed by Shogun, all the while Machida was hitting Shogun in his body and face. Even after Machida was hit by these "devestating" leg kicks he still moved just like he always does.

How anyone can even argue this is beyond me. I didn't count the strikes but Rua landed so many more strikes that it wasn't even close.

I am a boxing fan first so maybe that skews my perception of fights like this but there is no way in hell I will ever understand how Machida won this fight, especially with a unanimous decision.

No friggin way was Machida close to finishing the fight at the end of the fourth. They were both slugging away and each landed a shot.
