UFC 104: Machida vs Shogun 10/24

Another low kick by Rua. Great low kick. He's destroyed Machida' right leg. That's the story of the fight. Another body kick. Body kick by Machida and low kick by Rua. Shogun ran in but Machida backed out. Two knees by Machida. Shogun tied himn up. 2:30 left. Herb Dean separated them. Another body kick by Rua. Clinch and two punchdes by Rua. Machida bleeding from the mouth at this point. Rua came in with a punch. Crowd hot. 49-46 Rua.

48-47 across the board Machida. Fans booing. Not one person at press row had it for Machida.

Crowd booed the hell out of the decision. Crowd cheering Rua like crazy. Rua said he thought he won every round. Rua practiced 1,000 kicks per day. the one thing is, he got himself a rematch and made himself a star.

Sure sounds like a brutal decision. Cecil Peoples at it again, but two others agreed with him this time.

this surpasses Hamill Bisping as worst decision ever IMO. i know the old saying about how you have to beat the champ to be the champ but outside of machida laying out cold on the canvas Shogun dominated in every single aspect of the game. completely ridiculous

I was extremely annoyed by the commentary in the fight. The whole time Rogan and Greenburg are extremely bias. Everytime Shogun landed anything they raved about it, when Machida landed something they did not say a word. A casual fan would have thought Shogun was winning simply because of how they were raving about him. Just because we've never seen him(Machida) hit that much does not mean that they need to go into an in-depth conversation everytime something lands. I'm happy the judges saw it the exact way that i did.

And what was up with Rogan asking Machida did he agree with the decision? The man just won an unanimous decision five round fight have a little respect, you're not supposed to ask a fighter if he agrees with a decision that was in his favor thats just like Rogan saying "Machida i think that you lost the fight.

and why were they raving about shogun? he was landing clean shots all night! imagine that. machida did land shots but shogun landed about 100 times more. theres no way in hell you could say machida deserved that one. shogun dominated through and through.

I was commenting to my buddies that Rogan needs to get off Shoguns balls.. he was pretty bias but theres no doubt Shogun won that fight. It really wasnt even that close. Im pretty fucking baffled right now.

That was bullshit. Shogun easily won the first two rounds. He definitely took at least one of the next three (I had Shogun taking the third and fifth rounds).

Machida ate leg kicks the entire fight to the point he could barely maneuver. Shogun was never damaged and almost always pushed the pace.

I'm going to have to rewatch this one to see how all the judges gave it to Machida. Crazy.

i kinda feel bad for machida in a way. he clearly lost the fight but was handed a decision. now hes become some sort of villian even though he had nothing to do with the judges.

I had it 48-47 Shogun, but I could definitely see it being 48-47 Machida if you gave the edge to the champion. That being said, I'm still surprised that it was a unanimous decision.

Dave Meltzer saying he scored it Shogun, as did press row, is probably the best opinion. Those guys know their shit, and don't have to listen to the commentary

All three sherdog guys had it for Shogun, though Machida had three rounds on a combo of their cards. founds 4/5 were definitely Shogun though

It wasn't that close. Don't let other guys influence your first opinion of the fight.

I watched it online and couldn't really hear the commentary and easily thought Shogun controlled the fight.

He clearly won the first 2 rounds. The next 3 were closer but not there's no way that Machida won all 3. No fucking way.

The decision was a joke. No need to rewatch it.
