For a guy as skilled as GSP, fast, strong, you name it, no way this guy should be going 25 minutes every damn fight, he has a mental block about playing it safe, I know its smart, but I dont this sport to become about playing it safe and winning on points all the time

No. It was a great performance, but out-jabbing a wrestler isn't enough to get him ahead of Silva.

Anderson has proven that he's the better all around striker, better Muay Thai, better BJJ, and he's not uncomfortable on his back against wrestlers in fact he's dangerous there. So he still gets the nod for being a slightly better overall fighter.

Come on, everyone knows GSP could've snapped Hardy's arm in half. Dude is too classy for that shit.

As for not finishing, I think he was REALLY, REALLY humbled by losing to Matt Serra. He has A LOT of respect for his opponents, and doesnt want to take the chance of making that mistake again. So, he just beats the shit out of the guy without really having to be over aggressive and risk a cheap shot. Georges isnt stupid, I dont really think he has that solid of a chin. Its hard to hate on a guy who just flat out dominates, even if hes unfortunately unable to finish a lot of the time. I do believe hes capable, but you could see he never went for that extra flurry that probably could've finished Josh. Just too much respect for his opponents.

silva couldnt finish maia either...if i remember correctly, he hid behind the ref for most of a round. in a world where both fighters were equal size and weight, where the only difference was their existing skill sets, athletic capabilities, mental abilities, and things of that nature, I'd pick GSP nine times out of ten. GSPs takedowns are top notch, close to Sonnens if not on par, his top control is better than Sonnens, his overall top game from an offensive standpoint (subs, striking, etc) is better than Sonnens, his sub defense is better than Sonnens, his ability to pass guard and gain a more dominant position is far better than Sonnens and Sonnen was 2 minutes away from pulling one of the biggest upsets in recent history. IMO, GSP is a better fighter than Sonnen in almost every aspect, the only edge I would give Sonnen is a slight advantage in takedown ability (maybe). Say what you want about GSP playing it safe, but at least he's willing to fight every opponent he faces as opposed to frolicking around the ring whilst his opponent lays there daring him to come to the ground.

What it comes down to for me is this: name the last round where GSP didnt absolutely dominate. His fight with Fitch was close, but he easily won every round. You'd have to go back to his loss to Serra in 2007 to find a round he didnt dominate. With Silva, on the other hand, there's Sonnen, Maia, Leites, and Henderson in that same time period. GSP should be higher than Silva in the P4P rankings

Bingo. Seems pretty fucking simple to me. I dont see how anyone can even deny GSP the #1 ranking at this point. If Jose Aldo can keep doing what hes doing he may be considered.

We all know when Silva is on he absolutely runs through guys (Franklin, Griffin, Irvin, etc), we haven't really seen that yet with GSP.
