Now that this is over we have Weidman/Munoz, Faber/Barao, Lombard/Boetsch to take us into August (Fox, then Bendo/Edgar). Gonna be a long fuckin summer.

I felt like ol boy got desperate that he was on his feet for too long against Silva. Obvious strat was obvious. He wanted him on the ground for 25 minutes...Silva stuffed an attempt or two and Chael got anxious and went wild with that fucking backfist and then he couldn't regain himself. Should have popped right back up...he was sitting there like he was shook and Silva is the most accurate striker in the game...he just let him tee off on him.

Knee was legit. Everyone in the chatbox thought it was illegal at first glance but that was a great job by the referee. Good positioning, and a good job not intervening.

I was pissed with the outcome (obviously). Chael had a nice first round and I expected more of the same in the second round...then came the spinning backfist and a collective "WTF!!!" came from the crowd at the bar. Once Chael ate that knee, I had bad feelings. Granted he got up, but he was dazed. The minute he hit the mat for the second time, I was just waiting for Yves Lavigne to step-in and stop the fight.

Credit to Anderson Silva for a fantastic performance and props to him for his classy victory. Credit to Chael as well for not bitching, whining, making excuses, etc. after the fight. From what I could hear at the bar, Chael said "No one owes me anything. They gave me a shot and I didn't take advantage." He followed that up by calling Anderson a "true champion."

I'm more interested in what is next for Chael Sonnen. He's had two cracks at Silva and has not won. Even if he climbs back up the ladder, do you really make a Silva/Sonnen III? I don't think so. Believe it or not, I don't think there is much of a future for Chael at 185 in the UFC.

I think Bisping deserves the next shot at Silva. I doubt he'll win, but, I guess Dana has to throw someone out there.

DAT SPINNING BACKFIST. Sonnen panicked after And1 stuffed those first two shots really well and went for broke. Props to Chael for taking his loss well, but he is definitely in limbo after this. He's out of the title picture for a while now.

Forrest Griffin is a fucking douchebag. Who the fuck is he to snatch the mic from Rogan and interview Ortiz post-fight? I wish Ortiz got the decision (like he should have in the first place) so we would never see Griffin in the cage again.

The biggest disappointment of the night for me was Maia/Kim. Maia came out to immediately use his BJJ and we were robbed of a potential ground war.

Easton/Menjivar was BORING. Really didn't expect that.

And the prelims today were are all pretty shit outside of Guillard/Camoes.

If Munoz loses and Hector beats Boetsch, Hector gets it
If Munoz and Hector loses, maybe the Bisping/Belcher winner gets it

On the post show, Glazer, Florian, & Stann were talking to Forrest and goofing around about his antics after the fight. GUFAWS and HAHAHA'S all around.

Then, Helwani interviews Dana backstage, who absolutely losses his shit when asked about Forrest, turning red and finishing his rant with "i'm not done talking to Forrest. We'll have another conversation about it".

Kick it back to the studio, where Glazer, Florian, & Stann are suddenly all seriously and solemn, talking about how Forrest was out of line, needs to control his emotions, and how as a fighter you have to be a professional to help grow the sport, blah blah blah.

What a bunch of fucking pussies, changing their stance after Dana speaks on the topic. No wonder Dana insists on controlling production 100%, look at these fucking yes men saying whatever the company line is. Those three goofs lost whatever credibility they had with me after I saw that.

I don't think Chael is all that bad of guy. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but he did good for the UFC buys and getting ESPN coverage.

Anderson, unless he gets caught by a fluke shot or sub, will retire champ. Chael in my opinion matches up the best with him, don't think anyone at MW currently can even come close to giving him a run for the money.

How long did Silva hold his shorts in the 2nd round, defending the takedown? Seemed like an eternity to me.

Munoz has a glimmer of hope against Silva. He's a strong wrestler and has some KO power.

Bisping would be massacred again.

Lombard is an interesting fight considering he's so small and compact with a lot of power and the Judo/BJJ background. I'd love to see that fight.

No fighter has made fighter after fighter look so retarded. Even after controlling him for the first round Chael ends up looking like a confused 4 year old tripping himself trying a spinning backfist then having Silva rape choke and punch him in the face. Who else has ever done this to guys ? It saddens me that GSP is too small and he'll refuse to fight Jones.


Chael is awesome. Nothing but respect for a guy who can talk trash that well , do the antics he does , and take his loss like a champ afterwards.
