UFC 98: Machida vs Evans

Who can beat Machida? The only guy I see having a legit chance would be Shogun and that would be a very interesting fight to see. I think Shogun is the only guy that could really take Lyoto down and pound him, because there isn't a LHW out there that stands much of a chance trying to stand with the guy.
 
He has the best chance out of any of the contenders. If he doesn't get it done then Machida is going to have that belt for a long ass time.
 
The only issue with training for Machida, is nobody can duplicate his style, so most of these guys are going in winging it trying to figure it out on the fly.

If Evans is getting tossed trying to take him down, there's not a chance in hell Shogun brings Machida down.

Lyoto doesn't just win fights. He has never lost a round. This guy is the most mentally sharp fighter in the octagon, in any weight class. The only way "defensive" guys like Machida lose is when they let their guard down, but based on the previous statement, I doubt we'll see The Dragon taking a mental break in a fight any time soon. I really cannot see this guy losing a fight... I'm sure it'll happen at some point, but on paper, this guy will not lose a fight. He's just too good at what he does.

I completely agree. I'm not saying Shogun would be a favorite, or even pull it off, but when you size everyone up he stands out as the best guy to at least have a shot. I'd like to say that Rampage would be that guy, but Rampage lately has been too one-dimensional, he'll get outclassed in the octagon against Machida.

Im a little heart broken.. ill admit it. Not surprised.. but heart broken. My boy only got one title defense. Machida is going to have a long run if he gets past Rampage, which I suspect he will. The dude is just too beastly.
 
Machida's style is just too hard to stop. If you can get one good shot on him you better make it knock him out
 
in his post fight locker room interview, it looked like he was tearing up. Machida is a fucking true fighter, Shad had no chance. To think, if Rampage never had that jaw injury, Lyoto wouldn't have gotten the shot.

UFC 98 Thoughts:

- Sherk looked awful last night. He looked slow and Edgar was simply too fast for him and didn't give Sherk an opportunity for a takedown.

- Chael Sonnen, while some say boring, dominated Miller the entire fight. I'm shocked Sonnen didn't get a KO or TKO. Miller looked gassed by the 2nd round.

- Foupa-Pokam can argue all he wants with the ref, but, the dude couldn't even defend himself. He lunged at McFedries leg and held on...it was desperation.

- Hughes won. As I expected. I was a little shocked to see Serra prior to the announcement. He seemed to think he won the fight off of his one knockdown.

- Machida will have a long run as the LHW champion. This guy makes people look foolish.

How is a guy who was 18-0-1 overrated? The dude was the champion and STILL a heavy underdog. Infact.. hes the underdog in EVERY fight he fights. How can someone who constantly an underdog be overrated? If anything you can argue that hes underrated.

People were putting him in the top 5 p4p. That's overrated. His only big win was over Forrest. KO'ing a washed up Iceman isn't impressive IMO.
