Washington Close to Sending McNabb to Minnesota

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reports the "parameters" of a Donovan McNabb trade to the Vikings are in place, but agreeing on financial terms "could be tricky."
LaCanfora is going one step further than Adam Schefter's previous report, suggesting the Vikings and Redskins have agreed on compensation. McNabb's only motivation for agreeing to a restructured deal is preventing the Redskins from holding him hostage until September. McNabb still sees himself on the same level as Peyton Manning, so the contract is no small hurdle. McNabb does know Leslie Frazier from their three years together in Philadelphia, however, so that may be incentive to work out an arrangement.

I'm not saying he's been shitty his whole career, his pure athleticism and his great working relationship with Andy Reid combined to lead some pretty awful offenses further than most guys could. That peak was some time ago though. He's simply not very good anymore.

Minnesota, of all places, ought to be pretty fucking fed up with primadonnas after they basically did everything but suck Favre's dick and give him cell phone numbers of hot sideline reporters last year to get him to grace the team with his presence.

If the Vikings are serious about building a winner, they need to stop with this rent a qb bullshit. they need to pick a guy and ride or die. they would have been better off saying "you know what, Ponder is our dude, he's going to play, we'll take our lumps, but we're building something that matters." I don't think Ponder is going to be any good, but, while trading for McNabb might buy you a couple more wins, ultimately you're trading for a big name, not big production.

I think your hatred of Favre is getting the best of you. McNabb to Philly makes a ton of sense even if Ponder is the long term option. No need to throw him to the wolves if you have the possibility to get a winning veteran in to give the backup more time to develop.
